God created the entire universe without our permission or choice.
Humanity, animals, plants, the sun, moon, stars, earth – all did not have any choice in being created.
When God chooses to bless men, then it is not based on our choices.
Romans 9 “10 Not only that, but Rebekah’s children were conceived at the same time by our father Isaac. 11 Yet, before the twins were born or had done anything good or bad—in order that God’s purpose in election might stand: 12 not by works but by him who calls—she was told, “The older will serve the younger.” 13 Just as it is written: “Jacob I loved, but Esau I hated.” 14 What then shall we say? Is God unjust? Not at all! 15 For he says to Moses, “I will have mercy on whom I have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion.”16 It does not, therefore, depend on human desire or effort, but on God’s mercy. 17 For Scripture says to Pharaoh: “I raised you up for this very purpose, that I might display my power in you and that my name might be proclaimed in all the earth.” 18 Therefore God has mercy on whom he wants to have mercy, and he hardens whom he wants to harden.”
Man cannot choose God or deserve any blessings by works, desire, or faith.
Jesus chose the 12 disciples – they had no part in it.
John 15 “16 You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit—fruit that will last”
God gives grace based on His will and desire, before we were even born.
Ephesians 1 “3 Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ. 4 For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love 5 he predestined us for adoption to sonship through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will— 6 to the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves. 7 In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace 8 that he lavished on us. With all wisdom and understanding, 9 he made known to us the mystery of his will according to his good pleasure, which he purposed in Christ,”
Every blessing and good thing in life is by the Grace of God in Jesus Christ.
It was because Jesus became sin to make us righteous without our works or faith or endurance or decisions or willpower or choices.
Jesus died before we were born. Therefore we became blessed and righteous before we were born, before we made a choice.
Faith, works – are all choices. But God’s grace is given before we made any choice.
That is why God’s grace is not based on human efforts.
Romans 11 “4 And what was God’s answer to him? “I have reserved for myself seven thousand who have not bowed the knee to Baal.” 5 So too, at the present time there is a remnant chosen by grace. 6 And if by grace, then it cannot be based on works; if it were, grace would no longer be grace.”
God’s grace is predestined according to His will and not our will or plan or desires or choices.
The proof is that God created the entire universe without our choice.
His creation was an act of Grace.
Everything was created in Christ.
John 1 “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was with God in the beginning. 3 Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. 4 In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. “
Colossians 1 “15 The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. 16 For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him. 17 He is before all things, and in him all things hold together.”
His blessings in Christ for us – being forgiven and righteous without works – was also by His will and choice – not our choice.
Thank God for His grace without our works/choices/efforts/faith/etc.
