Attaining the Resurrection by following the Way of Jesus Christ.
In the Bible, it says that death came through sin.
Therefore immortality is attained by not sinning.
This is why God gave the Law.
Matthew 19 “Jesus replied. “There is only One who is good. If you want to enter life, keep the commandments.””
But nobody could keep the law until Jesus came and fulfilled the law and became perfect as God without sin.
Matthew 5 “17 “Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. …. Be Perfect as the Heavenly Father is perfect”.
Jesus had to live a life without sin and He learned obedience to the law by not sinning despite dying on the cross.
1 Peter 2 “23 When they hurled their insults at him, he did not retaliate; when he suffered, he made no threats. Instead, he entrusted himself to him who judges justly.”
Hebrews 5 “7 During the days of Jesus’ life on earth, he offered up prayers and petitions with fervent cries and tears to the one who could save him from death, and he was heard because of his reverent submission. 8 Son though he was, he learned obedience from what he suffered 9 and, once made perfect, he became the source of eternal salvation for all who obey him “
God saved Jesus from death by resurrecting Him because He did not sin.
Jesus said that if the believers obeyed Him and carried the cross then they would be saved.
Matthew 16 “24 Then Jesus said to his disciples, “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me. 25 For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will find it. 26 What good will it be for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul? Or what can anyone give in exchange for their soul? 27 For the Son of Man is going to come in his Father’s glory with his angels, and then he will reward each person according to what they have done.”
The final judgment was according to works.
The believers had to follow Jesus and stop sinning by carrying the cross.
1 Peter ” 21 To this you were called, because Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow in his steps……Therefore, since Christ suffered in his body, arm yourselves also with the same attitude, because whoever suffers in the body is done with sin”
Romans 8:13 “13 For if you live according to the flesh, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live.”
Galatians 5 ” 24 Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.”
Philippians 3 “10 I want to know Christ—yes, to know the power of his resurrection and participation in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, 11 and so, somehow, attaining to the resurrection from the dead.”
You see the reason Jesus died was to attain immortality by passing the test of not sinning in the face of great persecution and torture.
The reason the believers had to OBEY the commandments of Jesus was to follow Jesus in the same path:
– Death to sin through the cross of persecution
– Attain the resurrection by righteous living.
1 Peter 2 “24 “He himself bore our sins” in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; “”
They could not do this by their own flesh.
Nobody could be justified by the flesh because it was weak.
Therefore they needed GRACE by faith in Jesus to receive the Holy Spirit – the same Spirit that gave Christ the power to not sin.
If they walked in the Spirit then they would stop sinning.
They had to follow Jesus in not sinning, loving others and their enemies, carrying the cross, being faithful unto death and then they would be resurrected at the 2nd coming in AD70.
Matthew 24 “9 “Then you will be handed over to be persecuted and put to death, and you will be hated by all nations because of me. 10 At that time many will turn away from the faith and will betray and hate each other, 11 and many false prophets will appear and deceive many people. 12 Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold, 13 but the one who stands firm to the end will be saved.”
They had to go through great tribulation so that they would be perfect as Jesus even at the point of death by persecution because they were seeking the resurrection and immortality.
1 John 3 ” 3 All who have this hope in him purify themselves, just as he is pure.”
2 Corinthians 7 “Therefore, since we have these promises, dear friends, let us purify ourselves from everything that contaminates body and spirit, perfecting holiness out of reverence for God.”
Galatians 6 “7 Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. 8 Whoever sows to please their flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction; whoever sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life. 9 Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. “
Revelation 7-14 “those who keep God’s commands and hold fast their testimony about Jesus…..the people of God who keep his commands and remain faithful to Jesus.”
They had to forsake everything in the world to attain the resurrection.
Luke 12 “31 But seek his kingdom, and these things will be given to you as well. 32 “Do not be afraid, little flock, for your Father has been pleased to give you the kingdom. 33 Sell your possessions and give to the poor. “
Luke 14 “….those of you who do not give up everything you have cannot be my disciples.”
The path of salvation was to follow Jesus – to become perfect like Him, to forsake the world, to repent from all sin, to love radically, to seek the resurrection with ALL their heart!
Jesus would have come back if the Church had obeyed Him and overcome in that tribulation. He would have judged the world, raised the dead and sent all sinners to hell but saved the righteous saints who had followed Him and kept the commands.
But the Church failed and has never followed Jesus.
They have never stopped sinning.
It was impossible….
It is because man is imperfect.
We can never attain immortality and become like God.
Then what is the truth?
God created man as mortals and imperfect beings.
But He never judged us for that. See Genesis 1 when God said that all creation was good, even though man was created naked out of the dust (created imperfect and mortal).
But Adam tried to be perfect like God and failed.
Then God gave the Law to show that man cannot be perfect and Israel failed.
Then God sent Jesus to show that only God is perfect.
Jesus gave the Holy Spirit to the Church so that they could receive the grace to be perfect like Jesus…and they also failed.
This is why….
There is no 2nd coming.
There is no judgment day.
There is no future resurrection because nobody can follow Jesus.
Nobody has the Biblical faith.
God will never give immortality to anyone just because of faith without works! He would never send anyone to hell for unbelief because even believers are not perfect!
The truth is that there is no hell.
There is no utopia of immortality either!
Because nobody deserves either!
The Bible ended in AD70.
The Law ended.
Jesus never judged the world and He will never do so!
The moral of the story is that God is unconditional love.
Jesus loves us all.
He is not asking us to do anything.
When we die our spirits go back to God but there is no resurrection or 2nd coming.
We can be set free from religion by resting in the finished work of Jesus who took away the sins of the world and removed the law so that there is no judgment.
The purpose of this life is to discover God’s unconditional love after we give up on our religious efforts.
The perfect God never judges imperfect people.
Jesus loves you and He accepts us all people the way we are!
He has forgiven the entire world and there is no judgment.
