Jesus is more gracious than the Bible says!

Why did Jesus give impossible demands before and after the cross in the Bible?

In the Bible, Jesus demanded perfection from the believers who received grace by faith.

The Biblical faith demanded works of perfection:

Matthew 5 “I tell you that anyone who is angry with a brother or sister will be subject to judgment……anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery…… If your right eye causes you to stumble, gouge it out and throw it away. …..love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you…..48 Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.”

Luke 14 “26 “If anyone comes to me and does not hate father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters—yes, even their own life—such a person cannot be my disciple. 27 And whoever does not carry their cross and follow me cannot be my disciple……..those of you who do not give up everything you have cannot be my disciples.”

Matthew 24 “9 “Then you will be handed over to be persecuted and put to death, and you will be hated by all nations because of me. 10 At that time many will turn away from the faith and will betray and hate each other, 11 and many false prophets will appear and deceive many people. 12 Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold, 13 but the one who stands firm to the end will be saved.”

Jesus found fault with almost all the 7 gentile churches of Paul in Asia, telling them that He was coming soon to judge them according to works. He was demanding PERFECTION below:

Revelation 2-3 “2 I know your deeds, your hard work and your perseverance…..4 Yet I hold this against you: You have forsaken the love you had at first……you will suffer persecution for ten days. Be faithful, even to the point of death, and I will give you life as your victor’s crown……You did not renounce your faith in me, Nevertheless, I have a few things against you: …..”….for I have found your deeds unfinished in the sight of my God…..”all the churches will know that I am he who searches hearts and minds, and I will repay each of you according to your deeds…….11 I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take your crown….21 To the one who is victorious, I will give the right to sit with me on my throne, just as I was victorious and sat down with my Father on his throne.”

You see one thing:
– The Biblical faith was radical demanding complete obedience to Jesus.
– Jesus put these impossible demands and yet nobody did it.
– Jesus was coming soon to judge them according to their works, i.e. their faith that must produce works.

But….the 2nd coming of Jesus did not happen because nobody can be saved by their own faith.
If Jesus returned and judged us for our works of faith then nobody will be saved…not one.

Jesus gave all these impossible demands but relented in His grace.
He is more gracious than the Bible says!

Jesus said that if anyone denied His name then they would not be saved. But then He showed grace to Peter who denied Him 3 times.
Jesus knows that man is weak and cannot do all that is commanded.

The true nature of Jesus is seen on the cross when He forgave the greatest crime of humanity, those who crucified the Son of God were FORGIVEN.
His grace and mercy triumphs over judgment.

This is why there was no judgment of works.
Jesus put all these impossible demands on the Church for a reason:

Do you know why?
Its because the Bible is all about man’s failure in having faith.
The Biblical faith is impossible.

The entire Bible is about the Law and Prophets. The Biblical faith was the fulfillment of the law.

The Law ended in AD70 and the Bible was fulfilled.

Biblical faith was meant to obey the commandments of Jesus.
Faith in Jesus meant to completely follow Jesus and obey His commands of radical love, holiness, endurance, obedience.

All the 1st Century Churches failed.
All the Churches for the last 2000 years have failed to follow Jesus.
Let’s be honest…

The Bible story shows us that NOBODY has this radical faith.
Only Jesus was the one who had faith that pleased God.

The reason Jesus put all these impossible demands before and after the cross was to show the Church that nobody can have the Biblical faith….it is impossible.

That is why the Bible story ended……showing man’s failure
but Jesus alone who did everything.

The only thing that matters in the Bible is what Jesus did and not what we do.
Jesus died on the cross to forgive our sins.
He rose from the dead to make us righteous without works.

That is why today we are saved not by our faith but by the grace and faith of Jesus.
