The faith of Jesus endured the cross to bless us:
Why did Jesus have to die on the cross to bless us?
It is because Jesus was born under the law and came to fulfill the law by His obedience.
He obeyed God in loving Him and others radically in His entire life, even to the point of suffering on the cross and death.
Heb 5 “7 During the days of Jesus’ life on earth, he offered up prayers and petitions with fervent cries and tears to the one who could save him from death, and he was heard because of his reverent submission. 8 Son though he was, he learned obedience from what he suffered “
Jesus obeyed the law in His life and death on the cross.
This was His faith that He believed that His suffering on the cross would take away our sins and give us all blessings in His resurrection.
Romans 5 “so also through the obedience of the one man the many will be made righteous.”
We are made righteous by the obedience of Jesus.
The Biblical faith is always about obedience to the covenants of God. In the time of Christ, Jesus obeyed the law by faith. He was perfect as the Father – perfect in righteousness and perfect in faith.
Jesus is the author and perfector of the faith.
Jesus is the faith.
He alone is FAITHFUL – He is full of faith.
His faith was the finished work on the cross.
Rev 19 “Jesus is called Faithful and True. “
Jesus carried the cross, enduring the cross, suffering and dying for our sake. This was the faith of Jesus that saves us.
We are saved by the faith of Jesus.
We are saved by the finished work of Jesus.
We are saved by the obedience of Jesus, i.e His faith that fulfilled the law.
We are saved by the grace of Jesus.
Heb 2 “because he suffered death, so that by the grace of God he might taste death for everyone.”
The love of Jesus was displayed on the cross that He died for us while we were sinners to give us ALL His blessings and righteousness.
Romans 5 “8 But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us…..we have now been justified by his blood,”
You see it is the finished work of Jesus – the love of Jesus – faith of Jesus – the grace of Jesus that saves us. It is completely His faith and not ours.
We are faithless but He is faithful.
He suffered by faith and endured till the end to save us by His grace.
