The longer time I spend on this earth as a Christian, the more I realize how utterly that it is all about Jesus and not my efforts.

We know that Grace is the goodness and mercy of God that is given to us undeservingly.

But many Christians boast in their faith and in their knowledge of the Word of God.

We think that faith is our own decision and effort to believe in Jesus.

We think that the Word of God is information that we need to believe, and that only those who know the “Word” are more spiritual or saved.

But let me demonstrate something.

We are saved by grace through Faith that comes by hearing the word of God.

But this has nothing to do with our efforts. It’s completely Jesus!

Jesus Christ is the Grace of God.

John 1:17 “grace and truth came through Jesus Christ”.

Grace is the personification of God’s goodness, kindness, love, mercy.

Grace is not doctrine or information. Grace is Jesus Himself – the person of the Son of God who loved us and died for us. He forgave all our sins on His body on the cross and He rose from the dead to justify us freely.

The Word of God is not the Bible or a message from a preacher or pages in a book.

The Word of God is SPIRIT and LIFE.

John 6:63 “The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing. The words I have spoken to you—they are full of the Spirit and life.”

The Word of God is the Holy Spirit.

The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Jesus Christ Himself who is the Life-Giving spirit !!

Romans 8 “⁹ You, however, are not in the realm of the flesh but are in the realm of the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, they do not belong to Christ. ¹⁰ But if Christ is in you, then even though your body is subject to death because of sin, the Spirit gives life because of righteousness.”

1 Corinthians 15:22,45 “²² For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive……So it is written: “The first man Adam became a living being”; the last Adam (Jesus Christ), a life-giving spirit”

Therefore the Word of God is Jesus Himself – The Word is the Person of Jesus Christ and not theological doctrine.

What about faith? Is that our decision ? If it is, then a believer can stop believing. Therefore a believer must endure in his own faith. He has to endure and overcome by his own faith and can then fall away if he fails in faith.

But we know that salvation is guaranteed and the believer cannot fall away. Therefore the faith of the believer is also from God.

In fact Jesus is the author and finisher of faith.

Hebrews 12:2 “Jesus the author and finisher of faith”

In fact it is the faith OF Jesus. It is His faith and His faithfulness.

The people in the Bible followed Jesus, overcame just like He overcame. Why was that?

Revelation 3 “²¹ To the one who is victorious, I will give the right to sit with me on my throne, just as I was victorious and sat down with my Father on his throne.”

If the victory depends on your faith, then you will fail.

But the victory depends on Jesus who was victorious and carried the cross, overcoming death itself to be resurrected and seated in heaven.

The victory is faith and Jesus has the victory. It is HIS faith, not yours!

Jesus IS the faith.

Galatians 2:20 “I am crucified with Christ, nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me. And the life which I now live in the flesh, I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.”

You see it is not you who live anymore. You died. All your human efforts died on the cross.

It is the risen Christ who lives in you by His Spirit in you.

It is the Faith of Jesus who lives in you.

You see, this is why your salvation is guaranteed – not based on your endurance, will-power, believing hard, trying hard.

Jesus is the Word of God that saves us by His blood.

Revelation 19 “¹¹ I saw heaven standing open and there before me was a white horse, whose rider is called Faithful and True. With justice he judges and wages war. ¹² His eyes are like blazing fire, and on his head are many crowns. He has a name written on him that no one knows but he himself. ¹³ He is dressed in a robe dipped in blood, and his name is the Word of God.”

Jesus is Faithful – He is full of Faith that pleases God.

Our faith goes up and down. Can we honestly say that our faith pleases God ? We struggle with our faith. One day we are strong in faith and the next day we struggle in unbelief.

Therefore our faith cannot please God.

But we are pleasing to God because Jesus is our faith that never fails or wavers!

This is why I can confidently say that we are saved by Jesus.

We are not saved by our faith.

We are saved by His faith because He is the Faith.

We are not saved by our knowledge of the Bible (Word of God).

We are saved by Jesus who is the LIVING Word of God that is SPIRIT and LIFE.

The Word of God, the Grace of God is the LIVING ONE (Jesus Christ)

We are saved by a person (Jesus Christ) – the Son of God who lives forever!
