The Christian world is so focused on sins and works, not realizing this great truth.

Colossians 2 “¹³ When you were dead in your sins and in the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made you alive with Christ. He forgave us all our sins, ¹⁴ having canceled the charge of our legal indebtedness, which stood against us and condemned us; he has taken it away, nailing it to the cross.”

The believer is not dead in sins!

What does it mean to be “dead in sins” ?

What is sin? It is the failure of doing works!

Therefore it is being dead in works! It is trying to please God by works.

But the believer was made alive in Jesus in His finished work of the death and resurrection, forgiven all sins!

We died with Christ on the cross. We died to all works. We died completely on the cross.

Galatians 2 “¹⁶ know that a person is not justified by the works of the law, but by faith in Jesus Christ. So we, too, have put our faith in Christ Jesus that we may be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the law, because by the works of the law no one will be justified…..¹⁹ “For through the law I died to the law so that I might live for God. ²⁰ I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. ²¹ I do not set aside the grace of God, for if righteousness could be gained through the law, Christ died for nothing!”

We were made alive with Christ when Jesus rose from the dead.

We died to all works.

We were made alive in Christ’s finished work.

We are fully pleasing to God because of Jesus Christ’s finished work.

We died to sin and became sinless.

We were made righteous by grace through faith in Jesus.

1 Corinthians 6 “you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.”

We are dead to works. Works have nothing to do with salvation.

We are washed, sanctified, holy, blameless.

We are righteous, sinless, perfect in Jesus Christ.

Colossians 2 “⁹ For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form, ¹⁰ and in Christ you have been brought to fullness.”

We are as perfect as Jesus Himself and we have the full sinless glory of God Himself. It is because we died to all our works and Christ lives in us!
