The Cross is greater than the Law: Mary, John the baptist, Identity in Christ

Under the Law, John the baptist was the greatest man ever born. It was because his calling was to prepare the way of the Lord Jesus, testifying about Him as Messiah. No other prophet had done so in the Old Covenant.

Matthew 11 “11 Truly I tell you, among those born of women there has not risen anyone greater than John the Baptist; yet whoever is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he.”

John 1 “6 There was a man sent from God whose name was John. 7 He came as a witness to testify concerning that light, so that through him all might believe. 8 He himself was not the light; he came only as a witness to the light. 9 The true light that gives light to everyone was coming into the world.”

But John died before the Cross of Jesus and is lesser than all people in the New Covenant. It’s because John did not know God as Father like believers do today! John testified about the Light of the World but did not have the light inside of Him like we do today!

The believers today are children of the Light (God) !!!

1 Thessalonians 5 ” 5 You are all children of the light and children of the day.”

In the same way, Mary was the most blessed woman in the Old Covenant because she gave birth to Jesus – no other person had done so in the Old Covenant.

Luke 1 “35 The angel answered, “The Holy Spirit will come on you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy one to be born will be called the Son of God….And Mary said: “My soul glorifies the Lord47 and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior, 48 for he has been mindful of the humble state of his servant. From now on all generations will call me blessed,49 for the Mighty One has done great things for me”

Mary was the most blessed woman under the Law because of the birth of Christ.

But the law ended on the cross at the death of Jesus when a New Covenant was made and the Holy Spirit came on the Day of Pentecost.

Mary was no longer the most blessed because she also needed to receive the Holy Spirit just like any other believer. Mary needed salvation just like any other person today, therefore she is as blessed as any other believer in the New Covenant.

In the Old Covenant, Mary was the most blessed because Jesus lived in her for 9 months while the Lord never lived in anyone else in such a way!

But today in the New Covenant, Jesus lives FOREVER in ALL believers, including Mary!

Mary was truly blessed not by the birth of Jesus under the Old Covenant but by the death and resurrection of Jesus in the New Covenant. All believers are blessed equally by faith in Jesus after His death and resurrection!

So in the New Covenant, ALL believers are on the same level as Jesus Himself because CHRIST lives in us FOREVER !!! We are seated in heavenly places with Jesus and Christ is IN US, the hope of Glory! We are Complete in Christ.

It is because the death of Christ made all believers, sinless, righteous, perfect, complete as Christ Himself and God our Father.

Ephesians 1 “3 Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ.”

Colossians 2 “9 For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form, 10 and in Christ you have been brought to fullness. “

1 John 4 “In this world we are like Jesus”

Colossians 1 “26 the mystery that has been kept hidden for ages and generations, but is now disclosed to the Lord’s people. 27 To them God has chosen to make known among the Gentiles the glorious riches of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.”

This is why the Cross of Jesus Christ is far greater than the Law!

Jesus Christ died on the cross, to end the law and take away all sins!

Everyone who believes in Jesus Christ is forgiven all sin and made Righteous as God, freely by grace and not by works!
