Jesus gives us freedom from religious rules

Galatians 5:1 “It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.”

Under the Law (Ten Commandments and 603 ordinances), it was slavery and bondage because the Jews were expected to obey every commandment to be saved (Deuteronomy 6:25, Galatians 3:10, James 2:10, Romans 10:5).

It was a curse to be under that system. Just imagine the bondage! You had to be perfect to please God. It was an absolute nightmare. It was like living as a slave in constant danger of being punished.

That’s why Peter said that the Law was a burden that no Jews could bear (Acts 15:1-11).

But God didn’t give the Law to make anyone perfect, but to show that nobody is perfect by their works and that they need GRACE.

This is why Jesus Christ was sent to the world. The Son of God died on the cross to take away all sins and END the law. He removed all sins from the world and give us the FREE Gift of salvation, making us righteous by faith without doing a single work!

What a glorious freedom has been given to us by the blood of Jesus Christ !

Everyone who believes in Jesus Christ is Righteous and Perfect without works!

Believers are FREE because there’s nothing for us to do to be saved. We are saved by faith, we are justified by grace, we are righteous without works!

We are FREE to do anything!!

1 Corinthians 6 “12 “I have the right to do anything,” you say—but not everything is beneficial. “I have the right to do anything”—but I will not be mastered by anything. “

But of course, doing everything is not beneficial. That’s just common sense. Making bad choices is not beneficial for our earthly lives, but our salvation is not impacted by our deeds. We are saved by grace through faith in Jesus.

Colossians 2 “20 Since you died with Christ to the elemental spiritual forces of this world, why, as though you still belonged to the world, do you submit to its rules: 21 “Do not handle! Do not taste! Do not touch!”? 22 These rules, which have to do with things that are all destined to perish with use, are based on merely human commands and teachings. 23 Such regulations indeed have an appearance of wisdom, with their self-imposed worship, their false humility and their harsh treatment of the body, but they lack any value in restraining sensual indulgence.”

But some Christians say that faith in Jesus is not enough to be perfect. They add a bunch of rules to be more spiritual. They follow rules like “don’t watch TV, don’t enjoy life, don’t wear good clothes or jewelry, don’t be rich, don’t touch, don’t taste, don’t eat certain foods, pray every day for 1 hour, read the Bible one chapter a day, confess sins regularly, give a tithe of 10%, attend Church every Sunday, fast during Lent, keep the sabbath, etc…”, they give up the good things on earth trying to please God by their works! That’s going back to bondage and slavery!

Such acts of “self-denial” cannot make you more spiritual because you are opposing the Cross of Jesus Christ.

Believer, you don’t need to do anything to become more spiritual.

Jesus already made you complete and perfect by His death and resurrection.

We are forgiven all sins and complete by faith in Jesus.

Anything that is not based on the finished work of Jesus, are useless deceptive human traditions. So don’t be deceived by the teachings of men that force you to do certain things to be complete instead of resting by faith in Jesus alone!

Colossians 2 “8 See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the elemental spiritual forces of this world rather than on Christ. 9 For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form, 10 and in Christ you have been brought to fullness….. 13 When you were dead in your sins and in the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made you alive with Christ. He forgave us all our sins, 14 having canceled the charge of our legal indebtedness, which stood against us and condemned us; he has taken it away, nailing it to the cross. “

When Jesus Christ appeared in the flesh, the full sinless perfection and righteousness of God was manifest in Him. Jesus is the most holy person that ever lived – He is God.

When we believe in Jesus, we receive the same full sinless perfection and righteousness of God. We become just like Jesus – we become the most holy person that ever lived – we receive the full glory of God – we cannot be improved !!

It is because we were dead in sin in the past, but now Jesus died for our sins and died with us. God raised us when Jesus rose from the dead, having forgiven ALL our sins.

Believer, you are ALREADY righteous and perfectly sinless because it is CHRIST ALONE who lives in you!

You don’t need rules because you are already perfect! You have FULL FREEDOM because you are perfectly sinless! You don’t need rules because you don’t need improvement in Christ.

Jesus became sin on the cross to make us Righteous in His resurrection!

God gave us FULL FREEDOM by removing ALL LAWS and SINS on the Cross.

You have full freedom because you are perfectly sinless in Christ because His death took away all sins by removing the law on the cross! His blood made you perfect and gave you FREEDOM.

There is no more Law against anyone!

We are FREE by GRACE through faith in Jesus Christ.

We are sinless, righteous, perfect as God Himself.

Believe in Jesus to be forgiven all sins and receive freedom!
