In the beginning of the creation, God said this:
Genesis 1:3-4 “And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. 4 God saw that the light was good, and he separated the light from the darkness.”
It is purely God’s work. No man helped him!
God spoke the word by HIS faith to create the universe.
Hebrews 1 “3 By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God’s command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible.”
The word of God is Jesus, who is God, and Jesus created all things. Jesus is the LIGHT.
John 1 “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was with God in the beginning. 3 Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. 4 In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind.”
The faith of God is Christ, the living word of God. He is the Light of the World.
Now when God makes a New Creation by saving the believer, God says this:
2 Corinthians 4 “4 The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel that displays the glory of Christ, who is the image of God. 5 For what we preach is not ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, and ourselves as your servants for Jesus’ sake. 6 For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of God’s glory displayed in the face of Christ.”
You see that man is blinded and cannot see.
They were blinded by the Law or their self-efforts.
What can a blind man do?
Can he see by himself?
Can he believe by himself?
God has to shine His light on the person’s heart to see Jesus and believe!
It is God who must say “Let there be Light”
Christ is the Light of the World.
The Father must command the Light to shine in our hearts for us to be saved.
The blind are made to see. You see Jesus does the miracle first to make him see, and then he believes!
John 9 “As he went along, he saw a man blind from birth. 2 His disciples asked him, “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?” 3 “Neither this man nor his parents sinned,” said Jesus, “but this happened so that the works of God might be displayed in him. 4 As long as it is day, we must do the works of him who sent me. Night is coming, when no one can work. 5 While I am in the world, I am the light of the world.” 6 After saying this, he spit on the ground, made some mud with the saliva, and put it on the man’s eyes. 7 “Go,” he told him, “wash in the Pool of Siloam” (this word means “Sent”). So the man went and washed, and came home seeing…..he said, “Do you believe in the Son of Man?” 36 “Who is he, sir?” the man asked. “Tell me so that I may believe in him.” 37 Jesus said, “You have now seen him; in fact, he is the one speaking with you.” 40 Some Pharisees who were with him heard him say this and asked, “What? Are we blind too?” 41 Jesus said, “If you were blind, you would not be guilty of sin; but now that you claim you can see, your guilt remains. 38 Then the man said, “Lord, I believe,” and he worshiped him. 39 Jesus said, “For judgment I have come into this world, so that the blind will see and those who see will become blind.”
The Pharisees remained blinded by their works.
The vast majority of people are blinded today by their efforts.
Jesus has to show mercy to open our eyes.
He has to give us grace to even believe!
Jesus chose the blind beggar to see Him and believe!
Jesus shined the LIGHT to him because Jesus is the Light!
His Light took away the darkness of the world.
His Righteousness took away all sins.
He made us sinless children of the Light and we are never in darkness.
John 8 “12 When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.””
1 Thessalonians 5 “5 You are all children of the light and children of the day. We do not belong to the night or to the darkness.”
It is 100% His grace and not our efforts.
