No fear for the believer

Under the Old Covenant, Israel had to fear God because of the Law. If they broke even one commandment, they were guilty of them all, and would be punished with destruction (Deuteronomy 6:24)

They were slaves of God, who were judged for their works under the Law.

But now Jesus Christ died on the cross to make a New Covenant, forgiving all our sins.

He took away our sins and ended the Law of commandments on the cross!

Colossians 2:13-14 “When you were dead in your sins and in the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made you alive with Christ. He forgave us all our sins, 14 having canceled the charge of our legal indebtedness (law of commandments), which stood against us and condemned us; he has taken it away, nailing it to the cross.”

Everyone who believes in Jesus receives the forgiveness of sins.

We receive the Holy Spirit by faith in Jesus and we don’t fear anymore! There is no judgment for the believer, because we are now beloved Sons of God and not slaves!

Romans 8 “15 The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by him we cry, “Abba, Father.” 16 The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children. “
