The Church is the bride of Christ. We are the body of believers united by faith in Christ, all over the world.
Jesus will come back when the bride is ready.
Revelation 19 ” 6 Then I heard what sounded like a great multitude, like the roar of rushing waters and like loud peals of thunder, shouting: “Hallelujah! For our Lord God Almighty reigns. 7 Let us rejoice and be glad and give him glory! For the wedding of the Lamb has come,
and his bride has made herself ready. 8 Fine linen, bright and clean,
was given her to wear.””
This does not mean that Jesus is waiting for the Church to get rid of her stains and sins.
Jesus has already made the believer perfectly sinless by His blood.
Ephesians 5 “Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her 26 to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word, 27 and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless.”
Jesus has already made every believer sinless and perfect. He did this by His death and resurrection and not our good deeds.
We are as holy as God Himself – thanks to Jesus’ blood and His word that He sent into our hearts by faith.
This is what Jesus says to His bride:
Song of Songs 4:7 “You are altogether beautiful, my darling; there is no flaw in you.’
So why is Jesus waiting? It’s because He is waiting for His bride to be ready.
How is the bride going to be ready? When every person in the world hears the Gospel and has a chance to join the bride by accepting the free gift of salvation.
Revelation 22 “17 The Spirit and the bride say, “Come!” And let the one who hears say, “Come!” Let the one who is thirsty come; and let the one who wishes take the free gift of the water of life.”
Everyone who believes in Jesus receives the gift of Forgiveness of sins (Righteousness of God) and is made holy, blameless and perfect because He took away our sins.
