Living by the Word of God

Matthew 4:4 “Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’”

Many believers think that we receive salvation and grow spiritually by reading the entire Bible.

But the Bible in itself cannot save us.

The proof is Israel. They were God’s chosen people under the Old Covenant and knew the Bible inside-out but didn’t believe in Jesus.

John 5 “39 You study the Scriptures diligently because you think that in them you have eternal life. These are the very Scriptures that testify about me, 40 yet you refuse to come to me to have life.”

The Israelites knew the Bible and did not even believe in Jesus because they pursued righteousness by doing the works of the Law (Ten commandments)

Romans 9 “30 What then shall we say? That the Gentiles, who did not pursue righteousness, have obtained it, a righteousness that is by faith; 31 but the people of Israel, who pursued the law as the way of righteousness, have not attained their goal. 32 Why not? Because they pursued it not by faith but as if it were by works. They stumbled over the stumbling stone. “

The Bible is not our idol – it cannot save you.

The purpose of the Bible is this: To point to JESUS to be saved by faith, to be Righteous by faith and not works.

2 Timothy 3 “15 and how from infancy you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus16 All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness,”

The Bible points to the person of Jesus Christ – the Son of God – the LIVING WORD of GOD.

John 1 “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made…10 He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him. 11 He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him. 12 Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God”

Jesus Christ is the way, the truth, and the life.

He died on the cross for our sins, He rose from the dead. Everyone who believes in Jesus receives Him (Jesus, the Word of God), and we are made ALIVE with Christ, forgiven all sin!

Colossians 2 “13 When you were dead in your sins and in the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made you alive with Christ. He forgave us all our sins, 14 having canceled the charge of our legal indebtedness, which stood against us and condemned us; he has taken it away, nailing it to the cross. “

Acts 10:43 “Everyone who believes in Jesus, receives the forgiveness of sins”

John 3:15-16 “15 that everyone who believes may have eternal life in him. 16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”

Everyone who believes in the Word of God (JESUS) lives forever because we are forgiven all sin eternally !!

This is how man lives by every word of God by faith in Jesus (because Jesus is the fulfillment of the entire Bible)

Christ is the fulfillment of the entire Bible. Jesus is the COMPLETE WORD of God.

Romans 10 “Brothers and sisters, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for the Israelites is that they may be saved. For I can testify about them that they are zealous for God, but their zeal is not based on knowledge. Since they did not know the righteousness of God and sought to establish their own, they did not submit to God’s righteousness. Christ is the END of the law so that there may be righteousness for everyone who believes.”

Jesus ended all works on the Cross to give us salvation by faith alone (not our works)

The Cross is the main event of the Bible because Jesus is the Word of God who gives us eternal life when we believe in Him and not trust in our works!

1 Corinthians 2 “For I resolved to know nothing while I was with you except Jesus Christ and him crucified.”
