The Gospel of Jesus is hidden in the life of Jonah

Matthew 12 “40 For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of a huge fish, so the Son of Man will be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.”

When God commanded Jonah to go to Nineveh.
Jonah the Jew ran away and Nineveh the Gentiles remained under judgment.

It is a picture of the Old Covenant.
Nobody can be righteous under the law.
Both Jew and Gentile are guilty.

Then God judged Jonah for his sin by sending him into the fish for 3 days.

This was truly fulfilled when God judged Jesus for our sins.

Jesus was in the earth for 3 days and then He rose from the dead.

Then God sent Jonah, the Jew, and he obeys.
He preaches to the Gentiles in Nineveh and they are saved by faith.

This is a picture of GRACE in the New Covenant where both Jew and Gentile can be saved by faith in Jesus Christ.

The law could not save anyone.
But Grace in Jesus saves all those who believe!
