Believers don’t need to suffer to become closer to God or to become more like Jesus.
Jesus already suffered to make believers perfect by His one sacrifice on the cross.
Hebrews 2 “9 But we do see Jesus, who was made lower than the angels for a little while, now crowned with glory and honor because he suffered death, so that by the grace of God he might taste death for everyone. 10 In bringing many sons and daughters to glory, it was fitting that God, for whom and through whom everything exists, should make the pioneer of their salvation perfect through what he suffered. 11 Both the one who makes people holy and those who are made holy are of the same family. So Jesus is not ashamed to call them brothers and sisters.”
Hebrews 10 “10 And by that will, we have been made holy through the sacrifice of the body of Jesus Christ once for all…..14 For by one sacrifice he has made perfect forever those who are holy.”
God is good. He does not send suffering to believers.
God is not double-minded.
Jesus already suffered for you.
Jesus already suffered to make you perfect and forgiven all sin.
You are already 100% perfect and glorified like Jesus.
You are not being conformed to the image of Christ by suffering.
If we need suffering to become more like Jesus, then we need to suffer everything that He experienced – including dying on a cross!
You don’t need to suffer to become like Jesus because you are already fully like Jesus when you believed.
The good news is that Jesus already died on the cross and suffered to make us perfect by faith.
You are already complete in Christ.
You are already 100% like Jesus when you first believed.
Jesus did everything!
Romans 5 “18 Consequently, just as one trespass resulted in condemnation for all people, so also one righteous act resulted in justification and life for all people. 19 For just as through the disobedience of the one man the many were made sinners, so also through the obedience of the one man the many will be made righteous.”
What works can we do to be saved/righteous/forgiven/sanctified/holy/perfect?
Nothing.
Therefore Jesus Christ, the Son of God came down from heaven and suffered and died on the cross.
That was the work that was required to save us.
We could do nothing. We can do nothing.
This is why Jesus Christ did everything.
His suffering and death on the cross was the obedience to the Father.
God commanded Jesus to suffer and die on the cross to save us.
His obedience saved us.
He died and rose again.
His resurrection is proof that we are righteous and forgiven!
This is why we are not called to do anything but simply believe in what Jesus did.
Everyone who believes in Jesus is forgiven ALL sin, made righteous, made holy, made perfect forever without doing a single work!
Hebrews 10 “10 And by that will, we have been made holy through the sacrifice of the body of Jesus Christ once for all…..14 For by one sacrifice he has made perfect forever those who are holy.”
This is why I dare not relate to God based on any works.
No person’s suffering, endurance, good deeds can compare to what Jesus Christ did.
All those are filthy rags compared to Jesus.
Christ suffered and died to make the believer complete and perfect.
I trust in Jesus and not an ounce of my efforts.
This is profound. Thanks
