No more wavering between Faith and Works:
Romans 4 “20 Yet Abraham did not waver through unbelief regarding the promise of God, but was strengthened in his faith and gave glory to God, 21 being fully persuaded that God had power to do what he had promised. 22 This is why “it was credited to him as righteousness.” 23 The words “it was credited to him” were written not for him alone, 24 but also for us, to whom God will credit righteousness—for us who believe in him who raised Jesus our Lord from the dead. 25 He was delivered over to death for our sins and was raised to life for our justification.”
Abraham eventually did not waver in unbelief.
He trusted in God’s power.
What does it mean to believe in Jesus?
To not trust in our works but to trust that God made us Righteous because Jesus died for our sins and was raised for our justification.
We have only two choices: Faith or Works. There’s no in between.
For me, it is Faith in Jesus and not my works.
Romans 4 “4 Now to the one who works, wages are not credited as a gift but as an obligation. 5 However, to the one who does not work but trusts God who justifies the ungodly, their faith is credited as righteousness.”
We are Righteous by faith because Jesus did everything and we did nothing and can do nothing.
Grace cannot be mixed with works.
Romans 11:6 “And if by grace, then it cannot be based on works; if it were, grace would no longer be grace.”
It’s not 50% grace and 50% of your works.
It’s not 90% grace and 10% of your works
It’s not even 99% grace and 1% of your works.
It is purely grace.
We cannot even contribute a single work to this.
We cannot relate to God based on works.
The believer is 100% under grace.
No following but just Resting.
Matthew 11 “28 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”
We are not called to keep the law.
We are not called to carry the cross
We are not called to follow Jesus.
We are not called to give up Isaac like Abraham
We are not called to follow James, Paul, or Peter, or Job, or David, or Moses, or anyone.
We are not called to relate to God based on any “commandments”.
We relate to God based on Grace – Jesus did everything.
Faith in Jesus simply means REST.
Do nothing because He did everything.
Relax and enjoy GRACE.
We are righteous by faith in Jesus even if we have no good works!
Romans 4:5 “5 However, to the one who does not work but trusts God who justifies the ungodly, their faith is credited as righteousness…..God will credit righteousness—for us who believe in him who raised Jesus our Lord from the dead. 25 He was delivered over to death for our sins and was raised to life for our justification.”
Believers are righteous not based on our works but by faith in Jesus because He did everything.
He died for our sins.
He rose from the dead to make us righteous.
Even if we have no good works, we are still righteous by faith!
Not just righteous but…
He made us PERFECT and HOLY by one sacrifice on the cross.
Hebrews 10 “10 And by that will, we have been made holy through the sacrifice of the body of Jesus Christ once for all….14 For by one sacrifice he has made perfect forever those who are holy”
God will never remember our sins anymore!
He will not measure our works!
It is because He made us perfect and righteous freely by grace.
He has forgiven us on the cross.
Hebrews 10 ““Their sins and lawless acts I will remember no more.” 18 And where these have been forgiven, sacrifice for sin is no longer necessary.”
