Grace is not a license to sin

Grace is not a license to sin
Romans 5-6 “20 The law was brought in so that the trespass might increase. But where sin increased, grace increased all the more, 21 so that, just as sin reigned in death, so also grace might reign through righteousness to bring eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. 6 What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase? 2 By no means! We are those who have died to sin; how can we live in it any longer?”
Israel were God’s holy people supposedly because they had the law while the Gentiles were dead outside the covenant.
But the law only increased sin – because Israel who relied on the law, actually committed the greatest sin of crucifying Jesus even after seeing His love and miracles for 3.5 years.
The Grace of God was revealed on the cross, where Jesus did not throw judgment on them but said “Father, forgive them for they don’t know what they do”.
The Grace of God is greater than sin.
But does that mean that some people can make Grace a license to sin?
The truth is that such a statement is impossible.
If someone has tasted the grace of God by knowing Jesus, they cannot treat it as a license to sin.
The only people who use Grace as a license to sin are those who never knew Jesus.
In the 1st century, there was a deception, where some Jews said that “faith in Jesus” is not enough but that the circumcision is also needed for salvation (Galatians 3). They taught another gospel with another Jesus saying that faith + circumcision gives salvation. These people actually were trusting in the work of circumcision and using that as an excuse to sin!
These people did miracles and signs but they lived in wickedness and were persecuting the true believers. (2 corinthians 11) -they were false apostles preaching a false Jesus using a false gospel of the law – they were being led by the devil.
They claimed to be believers but were false (1 John 1:8)
These false believers were the ones who twisted the Grace of God into a license for sin (Jude 4)
They were teaching sexual immorality, and all kinds of wickedness in the Churches (Revelation 2-3).
In all my Christian life, I have never seen this “false grace” being preached. I have never seen pastors preach about how to sin.
In fact, I have seen the opposite, where preachers are too scared of the true Grace message and keep adding conditions to it, saying that we need progressive forgiveness or that we can lose salvation – that is legalism.
Today, the bigger problem is legalism.
I have never seen anyone using grace as a license to sin.
The Grace of God is Jesus, and not a doctrine.
The true Grace of God is not a license to sin because Jesus does not teach us to sin. Jesus lives in us and has given us a new heart that does not want to sin.
We want to do good.
Even if we choose sin and enjoy it’s temporary pleasure, we will feel miserable and regret it because we are not sinners anymore but we are the Righteousness of God in Christ.
The grace of God actually gives us joy when we express Christ in us by faith in Him that produces love for others and turning away from sin – we find satisfaction in our new identity as holy saints who are righteous by faith in Jesus.
