The Gospel will be until the end.

The Gospel is preached until the end.

Matthew 24 “14 And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.”

Jesus said that the gospel will be preached to all nations and then the end will come.

This implies few things:

– There is no Gospel after the end.

– All nations have to hear the Gospel before the end comes.

But Jesus expected it to happen in their generation.

Matthew 24 “34 Truly I tell you, this generation will certainly not pass away until all these things have happened. 35 Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.”

But here is the key:

– He expected the world to end (heaven and earth passing away).

– That did not happen in that generation. Why is that?

– The Father had plans to save more people.

– History shows that the Gospel did not reach all nations in AD70.

Jesus did not know the exact time when the Father would allow it.

Matthew 24 “36 “But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.”

Jesus clearly said that Jerusalem would be under Gentile rule from AD70 until the 2nd coming.

Luke 21 “20 “When you see Jerusalem being surrounded by armies, you will know that its desolation is near. 21 Then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains, let those in the city get out, and let those in the country not enter the city. 22 For this is the time of punishment in fulfillment of all that has been written. 23 How dreadful it will be in those days for pregnant women and nursing mothers! There will be great distress in the land and wrath against this people. 24 They will fall by the sword and will be taken as prisoners to all the nations. Jerusalem will be trampled on by the Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled.”

Jesus was correct in that Israel would be judged in that generation. The great tribulation happened in that generation. But the people of Israel were taken as prisoners to the nations AFTER the Jewish-Roman war in AD66-70.

The “times of the Gentiles” refers to the gospel going to all nations AFTER AD70.As Paul said in Romans 11, that the gospel goes till the fullness of Gentiles come in and then all Israel will be saved.

Israel was not saved in AD70, but rather rejected. All Gentile nations did not hear the gospel in AD70.Jesus said the same thing here that the gospel would continue after AD70:

Matthew 22 “7 The king was enraged. He sent his army and destroyed those murderers and burned their city. 8 “Then he said to his servants, ‘The wedding banquet is ready, but those I invited did not deserve to come. 9 So go to the street corners and invite to the banquet anyone you find.’ 10 So the servants went out into the streets and gathered all the people they could find, the bad as well as the good, and the wedding hall was filled with guests.”

God destroyed the city of Jerusalem because they had crucified Jesus, and killed the Apostles, and persecuted the Church.

There is a CLEAR Gospel commission to the nations AFTER AD70.

Therefore the END DID NOT happen in AD70. The “end” is about the end of the world – the last day – when the resurrection of the dead will happen.

John 6 “38 For I have come down from heaven not to do my will but to do the will of him who sent me. 39 And this is the will of him who sent me, that I shall lose none of all those he has given me, but raise them up at the last day. 40 For my Father’s will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day.””

John 5 “28 “Do not be amazed at this, for a time is coming when all who are in their graves will hear his voice 29 and come out—those who have done what is good will rise to live, and those who have done what is evil will rise to be condemned. 30 By myself I can do nothing; I judge only as I hear, and my judgment is just, for I seek not to please myself but him who sent me.”

The will of the Father is that Jesus will return on the LAST DAY of the world, at the END.

Just like Jesus rose from the dead, He will raise the dead.Just like Jesus raised Lazarus from the dead, He will raise the dead on the last day (John 11)On that day, all believers who are alive, will be raptured into the clouds to join Jesus with all the dead in Christ who were resurrected.

1 Thessalonians 4 “13 Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope. 14 For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him. 15 According to the Lord’s word, we tell you that we who are still alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will certainly not precede those who have fallen asleep. 16 For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever. 18 Therefore encourage one another with these words.”

On the last day, the dead in Christ will rise first. Then those alive will be raptured to join the Lord in the air. Then the world will be judged on that last day. This all happens in exactly one day on earth – that last day which nobody knows when it will happen (it will come like a thief in the night).

1 Corinthians 15 ” 51 Listen, I tell you a mystery: We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed— 52 in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed.”The Gospel is that Jesus Christ the Son of God, died for our sins, was buried, and raised the third day.Everyone who believes in Him apart from works, will be saved on that last day when He returns.Romans 5 “Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much more shall we be saved from God’s wrath through him!”
