The Law was only for Israel until the 1st century

God only gave the Law to Israel and no other nation

Psalm 147:19-20 “He has revealed his word to Jacob, his laws and decrees to Israel. He has done this for no other nation; they do not know his laws. Praise the Lord.”

The Gentiles were dead outside the law, without even knowing God (Ephesians 2).

The law was supposed to give life but it instead brought condemnation because man is incapable of obeying the law.

Romans 7:9-10 “Once I was alive apart from the law; but when the commandment came, sin sprang to life and I died. I found that the very commandment that was intended to bring life actually brought death.”

Romans 3:19 “Now we know that whatever the law says, it says to those who are under the law, so that every mouth may be silenced and the whole world held accountable to God.”

Israel was found sinful under the law.Gentiles are sinners because they were dead outside the law.But Paul said that those Jews who died to the law by faith in Christ bear fruit of salvation.

Romans 7:1,4 “Or do you not know, brethren (for I speak to those who know the law),….my brothers and sisters, you also died to the law through the body of Christ, that you might belong to another, to him who was raised from the dead, in order that we might bear fruit for God.”

Israel knew the law but they tried to be righteous by works. They crucified Jesus and killed the Apostles. They desperately tried to prevent Gentiles from getting saved in the 1st Century.

1 Thessalonians 2:15-16 “those churches suffered from the Jews who killed the Lord Jesus and the prophets and also drove us out. They displease God and are hostile to everyone in their effort to keep us from speaking to the Gentiles so that they may be saved. In this way they always heap up their sins to the limit. The wrath of God has come upon them at last.”

The wrath of God came upon Israel who was judged in AD66-70 and the kingdom was given to the Gentiles to bear fruit of salvation.

Matthew 21:43-44 “Therefore I say to you, the kingdom of God will be taken from you and given to a nation bearing the fruits of it. And whoever falls on this stone will be broken; but on whomever it falls, it will grind him to powder.”

Israel tried to be righteous under law by works but they failed. But the Gentiles who never had the law became righteous by faith in Christ without works.

Romans 9:30-32 “What shall we say then? That Gentiles, who did not pursue righteousness, have attained to righteousness, even the righteousness of faith; but Israel, pursuing the law of righteousness, has not attained to the law of righteousness. Why? Because they did not seek it by faith, but as it were, by the works of the law. For they stumbled at that stumbling stone.”

When Israel was judged, the Law of Moses disappeared.

The Age of the Law ended.

The Scriptures were fulfilled.

The Law has not been preached for 1900 years.

Billions of Gentiles have come to Christ without knowing any law in the last 1900 years after Israel’s judgment.

We live in the Age of Grace today where the free gift of salvation is offered to all nations free of cost. Everyone who believes in Jesus is righteous and forgiven without any works.
