Believers have nothing to do with the law.
From the time of Adam till before Moses people sinned and died but there was no law (Romans 5:12-13).
Abraham was righteous by faith before the law came through Moses.
Romans 4:13-15 “For the promise that he would be the heir of the world was not to Abraham or to his seed through the law, but through the righteousness of faith. For if those who are of the law are heirs, faith is made void and the promise made of no effect, because the law brings about wrath; for where there is no law there is no transgression.”
The law makes faith void. The law brings wrath. But faith brings salvation by grace and not works.
The law and faith (grace) are two opposites.
These are two covenants that cannot be mixed. The law was a temporary covenant from the time of Moses until Jesus died on the cross. The Jews were under law until Jesus came so that they could have faith to be saved.
Galatians 3:24-25 “Therefore the law was our tutor to bring us to Christ, that we might be justified by faith. But after faith has come, we are no longer under a tutor.”
The Old Covenant was passing away in the 1st Century but the New Covenant is eternal and remains forever.
2nd Corinthians 3:11 “For if what is passing away was glorious, what remains is much more glorious.”
Jesus took away the old covenant on the cross to bring a new covenant where we are perfect/sanctified by faith in His one sacrifice of His blood.
Hebrews 9:9-10 “then He said, “Behold, I have come to do Your will, O God.” He takes away the first that He may establish the second. By that will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.”
The Old Covenant was made obsolete on the cross. It disappeared in their lifetime.
Hebrews 8:13 “By calling this covenant “new,” he has made the first one obsolete; and what is obsolete and outdated will soon disappear.”
40 years after the Cross, the Temple and sacrifices of the old covenant disappeared in the Jewish-Roman wars in AD66-136.The old covenant (law) ended in the 1st Century.
The age of Mosaic law has ended.
We are living in the Age of incomparable grace!
Ephesians 2:7-9 “in order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus. For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast.”
The world is under Grace. There is no question of being under law anymore.
The law has passed away.
Those who do not believe in Jesus, are dead outside the new covenant of grace.
Those who believe in Jesus are made alive by grace through faith in the new covenant.
Once a person receives Grace, it is permanent and irrevocable.
Grace is not given to fulfill the law (because the law is gone).
People need to believe in Jesus to receive His grace today by faith in Him.
We are saved by faith without works.Grace is without works.
