Jesus died in our place to give us life.
The Jews thought that they were righteous by circumcision according to the law.
But Jesus told the Jews that this was not enough under the law.
He told them to cut off the eye and hand that sinned.
But even that would not be enough because their minds would sin.
They had to be sinless under the law.But the truth is that nobody can stop sinning.
This is why Jesus was crucified and put to death on the cross for our sins. His body was cut off for our sins. We don’t need to do anything.
He was pierced for our sins and we are healed/forgiven by His stripes.
The cross was the end of our sins.
Our sins were cut off on the cross. He rose from the dead to forgive all those who believe.
Colossians 2:11-14 “In him you were also circumcised with a circumcision not made with hands, in the putting off of the body of the sins of the flesh, in the circumcision of Christ, having been buried with him in baptism, in which you were also raised with him through faith in the working of God, who raised him from the dead. You were dead through your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh. He made you alive together with him, having forgiven us all our sins, wiping out the handwriting in ordinances which was against us. He has taken it out of the way, nailing it to the cross.”
We died with Christ on the cross and were made alive with Him, forgiven all sins, raised with Him in His righteousness.
Galatians 2:19-21 “For I, through the law, died to the law, that I might live to God. I have been crucified with Christ, and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. That life which I now live in the flesh, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself up for me. I don’t reject the grace of God. For if righteousness is through the law, then Christ died for nothing!”
Jesus did everything for us to make us righteous by faith without our works. We are righteous without doing a single work but only by simply believing in what Jesus did.
