The Love of Jesus on the cross

The Love of Jesus on the cross

Philippians 2:6-9 “Christ Jesus, who, existing in the form of God, didn’t consider equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, taking the form of a servant, being made in the likeness of men. And being found in human form, he humbled himself, becoming obedient to the point of death, yes, the death of the cross. Therefore God also highly exalted him, and gave to him the name which is above every name”

Jesus created all things and has the Glory of God before He came to the world (John 17:5, Colossians 1:15-20)

But He did not come to show off His power.

He came to love us.

Even when He did good, He tried to hide from all the attention.

He is lowly and gentle in heart (Matthew 11:27-29).

He did not come shouting and screaming to gain attention.

Isaiah 42:2-3 “He will not shout, nor raise his voice, nor cause it to be heard in the street. He won’t break a bruised reed. He won’t quench a dimly burning wick. He will faithfully bring justice.”

He came with humility and love.

He touched the untouchable, he went to eat with the outcasts.

He healed the torn ear of the soldier who came to arrest Him.

He allowed his betrayer to kiss his cheek.

He washed the feet of those 12 disciples who would deny Him.He did not retaliate at those who beat and mocked Him.

He forgave those who brutally crucified Him.

He came to serve us salvation at our feet.

The God who deserves all glory came with such humility.

He did not do this in pretense or to gain points with God.

This is who Jesus is.

Jesus is PURE LOVE. Jesus is God.

Jesus did all of this on our behalf and died for our sins because we could do nothing so that He could give us His righteousness freely.

The God of all glory came to reveal His glorious love.

John 14:9 “He who has seen me has seen the Father.”

Jesus revealed God our Father:

humble, selfless, loving, kind, compassionate, gentle, not seeking attention, doing good to everyone, not hurting anyone.

This is pure love.

His ultimate revelation of God is the cross where Jesus would rather die for us than let us be condemned.

He would do anything to save us.

He died and suffered in our place, taking our sins away, to give us His righteousness and glory.

He did all of this because He wants us to freely have all that He has.

He gave us Himself because He loves us more than anything!

He did not come as a proud king with a huge army.

When He was transfigured, He did it in front of merely 3 people.

When He did miracles, He went away into seclusion.

But He was crucified in front of everyone!

His love was on display to all people, at His lowest moment to give us peace, forgiveness and righteousness as a free gift.

Jesus is Lord and God.Jesus loves us like nobody else.
