The Glory of God in the Gracious Face of Jesus Christ
2 Corinthians 3-4:15-16 “But to this day, when Moses is read, a veil lies on their heart. But whenever someone turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away….the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.”
Relying on our works or the ten commandments is like putting a veil on our eyes that leads to condemnation.
It makes us look at our own performance and others.
But when we turn to Jesus then we are forgiven and justified.
Nobody had seen God until they saw Jesus.
He came filled with grace and truth.
Jesus’ greatest act of grace was seen on the cross.
On the cross, His body was beaten and crucified by sinners.
His face was marred beyond recognition (Isaiah 52-53).
But did He command curses and revenge against this greatest sin committed by men?
No, He loved them and showered them with grace, saying this:
Luke 23:34 “Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they don’t know what they are doing.””
Jesus fulfilled the law by not sinning and yet He died for our sins on the cross.
He rose from the dead after removing our sins forever.
Everyone who believes in Jesus is forgiven no matter how many sins we have done.
Everyone who believes in Jesus is righteous without works.
This is the Glory of God in Christ.
