The believers are the bride of Christ who share an intimate relationship with our Bridegroom. The Song of Songs describes this beautiful love Christ has for the believer:
We as believers may feel that we are flawed sinners but look at what Jesus calls us here:
Song of Songs 1:15 “Behold, you are beautiful, my love. Behold, you are beautiful. Your eyes are like doves”
Christ embraces us in His love – His banner over us is His love.
Song of Songs 2:4,6 “He brought me to the banquet hall. His banner over me is love…. His left hand is under my head. His right hand embraces me.”
Look at how romantic and loving is our wonderful Bridegroom Jesus Christ:
Song of Songs 2:10-13 “ My beloved spoke, and said to me, “Rise up, my love, my beautiful one, and come away. For behold, the winter is past. The rain is over and gone. The flowers appear on the earth. The time of the singing has come, and the voice of the turtledove is heard in our land. The fig tree ripens her green figs. The vines are in blossom. They give out their fragrance. Arise, my love, my beautiful one, and come away.”
Do you know that the Lord loves you so much that He cannot wait to see your face and hear your voice when you talk/pray to Him?
He never gets tired of you but longs for you so that much He died for you.
Song of Songs 2:14 “My dove in the clefts of the rock, in the hiding places of the mountainside,
let me see your face. let me hear your voice; for your voice is sweet and your face is lovely.”
No matter our flaws, Jesus says that we are beautiful in His great love for us.
We may feel sinful and flawed but Jesus has made us perfect and flawless – altogether beautiful just like Himself in all His beauty and perfection!
Song of Songs 4:7 “You are all beautiful, my love. There is no spot in you.”
It is because our Lord Jesus washed us and made us holy and blameless without any flaw. He made us flawless in His righteousness and perfection!
Ephesians 5:25-27 “Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the assembly, and gave himself up for it; that he might sanctify it, having cleansed it by the washing of water with the word, that he might present the assembly to himself gloriously, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without defect.”
Do you know that we have stolen the heart of the Lord? This is why He chose to suffer and die for us because we are His great love! He gave up all the glories of heaven by dying for us. He says that our love is better than all the wine and riches of heaven.
Song of Songs 4:9-10 “You have ravished my heart, my sister, my bride. You have ravished my heart with one of your eyes, with one chain of your neck. How beautiful is your love, my sister, my bride! How much better is your love than wine, the fragrance of your perfumes than all kinds of spices!”
Song of Songs 7:6 “How beautiful and how pleasant you are, love, for delights!”
We can now say to our Lord that His love is truly better than anything on the earth!
Song of Songs 1:2, 6:3, 7:10, 8:10 “Let him kiss me with the kisses of his mouth; for your love is better than wine….I am my beloved’s, and my beloved is mine.
He browses among the lilies…. I am my beloved’s. His desire is toward me…. I am a wall, and my breasts like towers, then I was in his eyes like one who found peace.”
We belong to Him and He belongs to us. We are joined in a beautiful union in the Spirit.
1 Corinthians 6:17 “But whoever is united with the Lord is one with him in spirit“
Song of Solomon 2:16 “My beloved is mine, and I am his. He browses among the lilies”
We truly bring peace and contentment to His heart of love!
