Believers cannot commit the unforgivable sin

Jesus told people that every sin can be forgiven if they believe in Christ.

Matthew 12:31 “Therefore I tell you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven men, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven men.“

But the person who blasphemes the Holy Spirit, will not be forgiven.

Even most unbelievers do not blaspheme the Holy Spirit.

God gives them a chance until the end of their lives to be saved by faith in Christ.

If they die in unbelief, then they will be condemned.

But the person who blasphemes the Holy Spirit is fully controlled by the devil, such as the Pharisees who crucified Jesus and the Apostles.

These people accused Jesus of doing miracles by the power of the devil.

They were not just rejecting Christ, but accusing Him of being satanic.

In the days of Christ, the Israelites rejected Jesus directly.

But God still gave them a chance to hear the Gospel through the Apostles.

Some of these people accused the Apostles of doing miracles by the power of the devil.

They were not just rejecting the Holy Spirit, but blaspheming His name.

They hardened their hearts beyond repair.

The blasphemy of the Holy Spirit is the sin that leads to death (1st John 5:16-18).

John said that the believer does not commit this unforgivable sin and the devil cannot snatch us. The sins of the believer have already been forgiven (Colossians 2:13-14).

The unbeliever perishes in death. But the believer has come out of death into eternal life and is forgiven all sins, and will never be condemned (John 5:24, 1st John 5:13).

The wage of sin is death – and that is why Jesus died for our sin to give believers the free gift of salvation (Romans 6:23). The believer cannot commit the sin that leads to death because Jesus already died for us and we have been made alive with Him.

We may make mistakes, and struggle with faith at times but deep in our heart,

we love the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

We may have got angry at God or had bad thoughts in our minds.

But the truth is that we have an undying love for Christ in our hearts (Ephesians 6:24, 1st John 4:19). Our love for Christ cannot end because He loved us first and His Spirit lives in us. The believer has the Holy Spirit and that is why we believe in Christ.

1st Corinthians 12:3 “Therefore I make known to you that no man speaking by God’s Spirit says, “Jesus is accursed.” No one can say, “Jesus is Lord,” but by the Holy Spirit.”

It is impossible for believers to blaspheme the Holy Spirit.
