GOSPEL and JUDGMENT: To the JEW first, then the GENTILE.
Romans 1 “For I am not ashamed of the Good News of Christ, because it is the power of God for salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first, and also for the Gentile.”
The Gospel was first preached to the Jews by the 12 Apostles.
Then from Acts 10 onwards, we see the Gospel going to the Gentiles.
Paul is the chief Apostle to the Gentiles.
Judgment is first to the Jews then to the Gentile:
Romans 2 “8 but to those who are self-seeking, and don’t obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, will be wrath, indignation, 9 oppression, and anguish on every soul of man who does evil, to the Jew first, and also to the Gentile. 10 But glory, honor, and peace go to every man who does good, to the Jew first, and also to the Gentile…. 16 in the day when God will judge the secrets of men, according to my Good News, by Jesus Christ.”
Jesus said that the 12 Apostles would judge Israel.
Matthew 19 “28 Jesus said to them, “Most certainly I tell you that you who have followed me, in the regeneration when the Son of Man will sit on the throne of his glory, you also will sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel. “
Revelation 14 “I saw, and behold, the Lamb standing on Mount Zion, and with him a number, one hundred forty-four thousand, having his name, and the name of his Father, written on their foreheads”
This is why Jesus judged the harlot (Jerusalem) only with the 144,000 Jewish believers. These were from the 12 tribes of Israel.
James 1 “James, a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ, to the twelve tribes which are in the Dispersion: Greetings.”
It would happen in their lifetime.
Matthew 10 “23 But when they persecute you in this city, flee into the next, for most certainly I tell you, you will not have gone through the cities of Israel until the Son of Man has come.”
Matthew 24 “2 But he answered them, “You see all of these things, don’t you? Most certainly I tell you, there will not be left here one stone on another, that will not be thrown down.” 16 then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains.34 Most certainly I tell you, this generation will not pass away until all these things are accomplished.”
But Paul was not sent to the Jews. He was preaching to the Gentiles.
Galatians 2 “7 but to the contrary, when they saw that I had been entrusted with the Good News for the uncircumcised, even as Peter with the Good News for the circumcised— 8 for he who worked through Peter in the apostleship with the circumcised also worked through me with the Gentiles— 9 and when they perceived the grace that was given to me, James and Cephas and John, those who were reputed to be pillars, gave to Barnabas and me the right hand of fellowship, that we should go to the Gentiles, and they to the circumcision.”
We know that the Gentile world has not been judged.
It was only Israel that was judged in AD70.
Paul says that the Gentile believers will judge the “world”.
1 Corinthians 6 “2 Don’t you know that the saints will judge the world? And if the world is judged by you, are you unworthy to judge the smallest matters? 3 Don’t you know that we will judge angels? How much more, things that pertain to this life?”
Paul was writing to Corinthian Gentiles and other Gentiles all over the Roman Empire. Now we know that Rome and Greece was not judged in AD70. Neither was Persia, Babylon, India, China, or any other nation. The Gentile believers did not judge the Gentile world in AD70.So then it is clear that AD70 was not the judgment of the world.
The 1st Century was the Great tribulation of Israel when Daniel 12, Revelation 1-19 was fulfilled.
Revelation 1-19 is about the judgment of Israel in AD70. The devil had given power to the beast before AD70.
Revelation 13 “2 The beast which I saw was like a leopard, and his feet were like those of a bear, and his mouth like the mouth of a lion. The dragon gave him his power, his throne, and great authority”
At that time the beast and false prophet (Jewish false leaders) were cast into the lake of fire.
Revelation 19 “20 The beast was taken, and with him the false prophet who worked the signs in his sight, with which he deceived those who had received the mark of the beast and those who worshiped his image. These two were thrown alive into the lake of fire that burns with sulfur. 21 The rest were killed with the sword of him who sat on the horse, the sword which came out of his mouth. So all the birds were filled with their flesh.”
Christ’s coming of judgment manifested in the Roman Armies destroying Israel in the 1st Century.
BUT THIS WAS NOT THE END of the WORLD.It was ONLY the END of ISRAEL.
They had heard the Gospel first and therefore they were JUDGED FIRST.
Then Satan is bound for the 1000 years.
But this beast was judged at Christ’s judgment of Israel.
Only the beast and false prophet were condemned. Everyone else was killed but not resurrected. Satan was bound to prevent deceiving the people like he did in the 1st Century.
Revelation 20 “2 He seized the dragon, the old serpent, which is the devil and Satan, who deceives the whole inhabited earth, and bound him for a thousand years,… 5 The rest of the dead didn’t live until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection. 6 Blessed and holy is he who has part in the first resurrection. Over these, the second death has no power, but they will be priests of God and of Christ, and will reign with him one thousand years.”
All believers who have died have gone to heaven to be with the LORD forever, reigning with Him.Then in the future, God will judge ALL nations.
Revelation 20 “7 And after the thousand years, Satan will be released from his prison, 8 and he will come out to deceive the nations which are in the four corners of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to the war; the number of whom is as the sand of the sea. 9 They went up over the width of the earth, and surrounded the camp of the saints, and the beloved city. Fire came down out of heaven from God and devoured them. 10 The devil who deceived them was thrown into the lake of fire and sulfur, where the beast and the false prophet are also. They will be tormented day and night forever and ever.”
Note that Satan is thrown AFTER the beast is thrown in the lake of fire.Satan’s judgment happens 1000 years after the judgment of the beast and false prophet.
This proves that AD70 was NOT the final judgment. AD70 was only the judgment of Israel. The Day of the LORD began in AD70…The Gospel was preached to the JEW first….therefore the judgment came upon the JEW first in AD70. The 1000 years is a symbolic unknown period from the time of the 1st Century until the end of the world. In Revelation 20, it shows us that the Gospel is still preached to all nations until the last day. The Day of the LORD will consummate in the final judgment of all nations. In the end Jesus will appear in the heavens with all the dead in Christ and those who are alive – believers will be raptured to be in the clouds forever. Then we will judge the world.
1 Thessalonians 4 “13 But we don’t want you to be ignorant, brothers, concerning those who have fallen asleep, so that you don’t grieve like the rest, who have no hope. 14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep in Jesus. 15 For this we tell you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will in no way precede those who have fallen asleep. 16 For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel and with God’s trumpet. The dead in Christ will rise first, 17 then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air. So we will be with the Lord forever. 18 Therefore comfort one another with these words.”
1 Corinthians 15 ” 51 Behold, I tell you a mystery. We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed, 52 in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we will be changed. 53 For this perishable body must become imperishable, and this mortal must put on immortality. 54 But when this perishable body will have become imperishable, and this mortal will have put on immortality, then what is written will happen: “Death is swallowed up in victory.”
1 Corinthians 6 “2 Don’t you know that the saints will judge the world? … 3 Don’t you know that we will judge angels? “
The final judgment will happen at the end of the world. Then a new world will be revealed.
Revelation 20-21 Revelation 20 “7 And after the thousand years, Satan will be released from his prison, 8 and he will come out to deceive the nations… 10 The devil who deceived them was thrown into the lake of fire and sulfur, where the beast and the false prophet are also. They will be tormented day and night forever and ever. “11 I saw a great white throne, and him who sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away. There was found no place for them. 12 I saw the dead, the great and the small, standing before the throne, and they opened books. Another book was opened, which is the book of life. The dead were judged out of the things which were written in the books, according to their works. 13 The sea gave up the dead who were in it. Death and Hades gave up the dead who were in them. They were judged, each one according to his works. 14 Death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death, the lake of fire. 15 If anyone was not found written in the book of life, he was cast into the lake of fire.I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth have passed away, and the sea is no more. 2 I saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared like a bride adorned for her husband. 3 I heard a loud voice out of heaven saying, “Behold, God’s dwelling is with people, and he will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them as their God. 4 He will wipe away every tear from their eyes. Death will be no more; neither will there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain, any more. The first things have passed away.
So we can see here, that Satan’s judgment is a SEPARATE event from the judgment of the beast and false prophet. Therefore the 1000 years began in AD70 when the beast and false prophet were judged in AD70. The judgment of Satan and all nations is in the future. This is why the Gospel was first preached to the Jews in their last days, because their judgment was imminent in their generation. The Gospel has continued to the nations for the last 2000 years because their judgment is in the future. The Day of the Lord began in AD70 with judgment on Israel. It will end with the final judgment of all nations in the future. The Jew was judged in AD70. The Gentile nations will be judged in the future.
All the believers who have died since the 1st Century until today and until the end, are with the Lord forever.
Revelation 14 “13 I heard a voice from heaven saying, “Write, ‘Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on.’”“Yes,” says the Spirit, “that they may rest from their labors; for their works follow with them.”
2nd Corinthians 5 “6 Therefore we are always confident and know that while we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord; 7 for we walk by faith, not by sight. 8 We are courageous, I say, and are willing rather to be absent from the body and to be at home with the Lord.”
