Christ keeps His promises

This is an excerpt from my new book: The Revelation of God’s love through Jesus Christ (The New Covenant Gospel of Grace and the End Times) (Copyright © 2020 by Mathew Simon

God’s promises are unbreakable in Jesus Christ!

Hebrews 6:13-14,18 “For when God made a promise to Abraham, since he could swear by no one greater, he swore by himself, saying, “Surely blessing I will bless you, and multiplying I will multiply you…. that by two immutable things, in which it is impossible for God to lie, we may have a strong encouragement, who have fled for refuge to take hold of the hope set before us.”

God is not a man who says one thing and then does another thing. If God gave His word to you, then He will surely fulfill it. Every blessing is promised by oath through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. When Jesus said that He would die on the cross and be raised to life, He did not lie! God does not lie – He is faithful in His promises.

Psalm 145:13 “Yahweh is faithful in all his words, and loving in all his deeds.”

Psalm 110:4 “Yahweh has sworn, and will not change his mind…”

When God sends His word to us, it will surely accomplish everything He has promised.

Isaiah 55:10-11 “For as the rain comes down and the snow from the sky, and doesn’t return there, but waters the earth, and makes it grow and bud, and gives seed to the sower and bread to the eater; so is my word that goes out of my mouth: it will not return to me void, but it will accomplish that which I please, and it will prosper in the thing I sent it to do.”

His word is Christ, who came down from heaven to earth to finish the work by dying on the cross and being raised from the dead to make the believer righteous forever.

In the same way, every unique promise He made to us is also guaranteed.

His love is greater than our wavering faith – His love never fails because we are one with Christ and cannot be separated from Himself.

2nd Timothy 2:13 “If we are faithless, he remains faithful. He can’t deny himself.”

God’s promises are unchangeable facts:  His promises are not affected by external factors (people, circumstances, etc.). They are not wishful fantasies, but they are unconditional declarations of the facts that will happen in the ordained time.

It never gets delayed or canceled. It is completely and utterly His doing!

He spoke it and makes it happen – He is perfect and His word is flawless!

It is always guaranteed to happen at the perfect ordained time, when it is needed.

Psalm 18:30 “As for God, his way is perfect. Yahweh’s word is tried. He is a shield to all those who take refuge in him.”

All of His prophecies in the Bible came true at the ordained time.

The prophet Daniel told the people of Israel that they were given 490 years to accept Christ after the Temple was built. In the last 7 years of that period, Christ began His ministry and died 3 ½ years later.

In those 3 ½ years, there were many times when Jesus was in danger, but His death happened exactly as prophesied at the end of the 3 ½ years.

Jesus prophesied that Peter would deny him but also predicted that he would be restored, and it happened that way! Jesus lived in a generation where the vast majority of Jews were opposed to him – but God still fulfilled all these prophecies in spite of great human unbelief and opposition! Therefore, we can trust God who is faithful.

2nd Corinthians 1:18-22 “But as God is faithful, our word toward you was not “Yes and no.” For the Son of God, Jesus Christ, who was preached among you by us, by me, Silvanus, and Timothy, was not “Yes and no,” but in him is “Yes.” For however many are the promises of God, in him is the “Yes.” Therefore also through him is the “Amen”, to the glory of God through us. Now he who establishes us with you in Christ and anointed us is God, who also sealed us, and gave us the down payment of the Spirit in our hearts.”

When God speaks to us, it’s not a “maybe”. But it is YES and AMEN because Jesus Christ is our guarantee in whom the believer’s sins are forgiven and we are made righteous by faith in His finished work. He has given us the Holy Spirit by faith as the deposit guaranteeing the promise of salvation.

Christ’s promises are timeless: Jesus is not bound by time because He created time and is greater than it. He lives outside of time because He is eternal. He speaks only what He has done. Jesus is Alpha and Omega – the beginning and End – He is above & beyond time and circumstances. He speaks in the Spirit that is outside time – He went ahead into our future and made it happen and that’s why He spoke it!

When the time is due, it will happen without any more delay.

Ezekiel 12:26-28 “Again Yahweh’s word came to me, saying, “Son of man, behold, they of the house of Israel say, ‘The vision that he sees is for many days to come, and he prophesies of times that are far off.’ “Therefore tell them, ‘The Lord Yahweh says: “None of my words will be deferred any more, but the word which I speak will be performed,” says the Lord Yahweh.’”

God’s promises are predestined: It does not happen based on our effort or planning.

It happens because He has ordained it. He is the One who does it.

His promises are written in our lives as predestined events.

Psalm 139:13-17 “For you formed my inmost being. You knit me together in my mother’s womb. I will give thanks to you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.
Your works are wonderful. My soul knows that very well. My frame wasn’t hidden from you, when I was made in secret, woven together in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my body.
In your book they were all written, the days that were ordained for me,
when as yet there were none of them. How precious to me are your thoughts, God! How vast is their sum

Paul was a Pharisee who was killing Christians, but Jesus appeared to him and fulfilled His calling as an Apostle! It was not Paul’s efforts but only Christ’s love & grace.

God’s promises are guaranteed because of who He is: God is your Father who keeps His word. As believers in Christ, we are God’s children and His family. We don’t have to persuade Him to bless us because we are His sons. We are not strangers or slaves trying to please Him because He is not our judge! The blessings are the family inheritance. Nothing or any person, can cancel or delay His promises. Who is man, a mere mortal that can delay the Almighty God? If Jesus opens a door of blessing for you, then no man can shut it! If Christ shuts a bad door, then it cannot be opened.

Jesus is God – He speaks, and nothing can refuse Him! The dead are raised, the blind see, the sick are healed and even the universe was created by Jesus speaking a word!

Hebrews 11:3 “By faith, we understand that the universe has been framed by the word of God, so that what is seen has not been made out of things which are visible.”

If He is so powerful, then His word (promise) in our earthly lives will surely come true!

Acts 13:37-38 “But he whom God raised up saw no decay. Be it known to you therefore, brothers, that through this man is proclaimed to you remission of sins,” Christ’s resurrection is the guarantee of God’s forgiveness to all believers. If God has raised Jesus from the dead then surely all His promises are unbreakable in His love!
