Freedom to love!

Galatians 5 “13 For you, brothers, were called for freedom. Only don’t use your freedom for gain to the flesh, but through love be servants to one another. 14 For the whole law is fulfilled in one word, in this: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” 15 But if you bite and devour one another, be careful that you don’t consume one another.”

Under the Law, there was no freedom.

It was bondage and fear.

613 rules. If you broke even one of them, then you were doomed.

You had to be perfect in your performance.

One mistake, and down came the curses of judgment.

It was a horrible burden.

Thank God that Jesus Christ perfectly kept the law on our behalf and then died for our sins to rise again to fulfill the law!

Believers have been set FREE from the condemnation of the law!

We are free from judgment.

We are free from guilt.

We are free from fear.

We are free from compulsion.

We are free, not to hate others and do evil, because that does not benefit anyone. It does not reflect who we are in Christ.

Love is the fulfillment of the law.

Not by the letter of rule-keeping but in the Spirit of love and grace.

We are free to love others because God loves us unconditionally.

We are free to do good to others because Jesus did all the good to us unconditionally.

We are free because we are already forgiven all sins, we are already perfectly righteous without doing any works!

So now we can love others without the pressure of attaining God’s approval.

We don’t do anything out of fear or compulsion.

We are free, because God is not keeping score.

We are free even if we stumble, God still loves us!

We have become purified by the obedience of faith in Christ, so that we are set free to love!

1st Peter 1 “22 Seeing you have purified your souls in your obedience to the truth through the Spirit in sincere brotherly affection, love one another from the heart fervently

We can love others wholeheartedly, because we are FREE.

This is the Freedom in Christ.
