Under the Law, the Israelites meditated day and night on the commandments.
Joshua 1:8 “This book of the law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it; for then you shall make your way prosperous, and then you shall have good success.’
But the Law only brought guilt and condemnation because they were never able to obey it perfectly.
The Law demanded perfection but cursed anyone who didn’t obey every commandment.
The Law actually increased sin in the flesh and brought condemnation.
The Law was given to lead them to faith in Christ.
Romans 10:4 “For Christ is the fulfillment of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes.”
But now in the New Covenant, our main focus is Jesus Christ our Lord.
1st Corinthians 2:2 “For I determined not to know anything among you except Jesus Christ and him crucified.”
Ephesians 1:17 “that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you a spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him,”
When we focus on Jesus, we are transformed and enjoy His grace, peace and love.
