Grace in Christ from beginning to end

Colossians 2 is one of my favorite passages:

It describes the glorious gospel in this chapter.

Colossians 2 “13 You were dead through your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh. He made you alive together with him, having forgiven us all our trespasses, 14 wiping out the handwriting in ordinances which was against us. He has taken it out of the way, nailing it to the cross.”

We were dead in sin apart from Christ, under the law’s condemnation.

We were unforgiven under law as sinners.

But God’s great love saved us by faith through (grace) the death, burial and resurrection of Christ.

We were made alive WITH Christ, forgiven ALL sin.

What is the reason we are forgiven ALL sin?

It is because the Law that stood against us, was finally nailed to the cross.

The believer is no longer under the law. Period.

Those under law are dead in sin.

But, we have been made ALIVE in Christ, no longer in our sin.

We are not sinners because we are not under the Law but we are in Christ.

He is righteous, and therefore we are righteous because of Him.

Colossians 2 “9 For in him all the fullness of the Deity dwells bodily, 10 and in him you are made full, who is the head of all principality and power.”

The fullness of God dwells in Christ, and in Christ we have been made full and complete.Dear believer, you are as holy and righteous as can ever be, and it has nothing to do with your efforts but all to do with Jesus alone – who is our Righteousness.

So then, do we live our Christian life based on the Law? Not at all.

Colossians 2 “6 As therefore you received Christ Jesus, the Lord, walk in him, 7 rooted and built up in him, and established in the faith, even as you were taught, abounding in it in thanksgiving.”

We live our Christian life the same way we got saved – by grace through faith in Christ and not our works but depending on His love alone that guides us all the days of our life.
