Grace alone and not our works!

Many years ago, I was stuck in a job that I hated and I thought that God was testing my faith by commanding me to do the work faithfully. I was afraid that I would lose my salvation if I changed my job and strayed out of “His will” for my life. I thought He was asking me to sacrifice my desire like the rich young ruler or like Abraham was asked to give up Isaac on the altar.

I ended up in depression because of I was sub-consciously trying to earn salvation by works.

But I thank God that Jesus set me free by revealing the Gospel of grace.

Many Christians believe that they can lose salvation if they are not faithful or if they do bad deeds. But if we believe that we can lose salvation by our bad deeds then it implies that we maintain salvation by good deeds – this is a false gospel.

What is the true gospel?

We are made righteous without the works of the law – justified freely by grace through faith in Christ.

Romans 3 “21 But now apart from the law, a righteousness of God has been revealed, being testified by the law and the prophets; 22 even the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ to all and on all those who believe. For there is no distinction, 23 for all have sinned, and fall short of the glory of God; 24 being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus; 25 whom God sent to be an atoning sacrifice, through faith in his blood

The person who “works” for salvation receives the “reward” of death/condemnation!

Romans 4 “Now to him who works, the reward is not counted as grace, but as something owed”

Romans 6 “23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Grace is a free gift – it means that we did nothing and Jesus did everything!

Romans 4. But to him who doesn’t work, but believes in him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is accounted for righteousnessEven as David also pronounces blessing on the man to whom God counts righteousness apart from works, Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, whose sins are covered. Blessed is the man whom the Lord will by no means charge with sin……to whom it will be accounted, who believe in him who raised Jesus, our Lord, from the dead, 25 who was delivered up for our trespasses, and was raised for our justification.”

God justifies the ungodly sinner who did nothing but simply believes in Jesus Christ.

We are made righteous without doing a single work!

God has forgiven our past, present and future sins.

God will never judge our sins anymore.

It is because Jesus Christ was already judged for our sins.

He rose from the dead to make us righteous.

You see, dear friends – if we believe in Jesus Christ, then we are righteous and sinless because He did all the work.

It has nothing to do with our works.

We did not try to be righteous but God made us righteous by His grace!

Romans 9 “30 What shall we say then? That the Gentiles, who didn’t follow after righteousness, attained to righteousness, even the righteousness which is of faith; “

Romans 10 ““I was found by those who didn’t seek me. I was revealed to those who didn’t ask for me.”

Romans 9 “16 So then it is not of him who wills, nor of him who runs, but of God who has mercy. “

This is why the Gospel is based on GRACE and not our works.

Romans 11 “And if by grace, then it is no longer of works; otherwise grace is no longer grace. But if it is of works, it is no longer grace; otherwise work is no longer work.”

This is why salvation can never be lost.

Once you believe in Christ then you are eternally righteous and eternally forgiven – because He did all the work.
