Complete in Christ

When we believe in Jesus Christ for salvation, these are the things that happen:

Colossians 1   “12 giving thanks to the Father, who made us fit to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light, 13 who delivered us out of the power of darkness, and translated us into the Kingdom of the Son of his love, 14 in whom we have our redemption, the forgiveness of our sins.”

  • God became our Father
  • He made us partakers of His inheritance (eternal life)
  • God declared us as saints – it is finished.
  • God put us in the Light – it is finished.
  • We are no longer in darkness – it is finished.
  • We are in the Kingdom of Christ, the Son of God – it is finished.
    • We don’t need to seek the kingdom anymore because we already have it in Christ.
  • God gave us the redemption from the curse – it is finished.
  • God gave us the forgiveness of sins in Christ – it is finished.

Colossians 1 21 You, being in past times alienated and enemies in your mind in your evil deeds, 22 yet now he has reconciled in the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and without defect and blameless before him,”

  • We are no longer enemies of God
  • We are reconciled by the death of Christ – it is finished.
  • God made us holy – it is finished.
  • God made us without defect – it is finished.
  • God made us blameless – it is finished.

Colossians 1 26 the mystery which has been hidden for ages and generations. But now it has been revealed to his saints, 27 to whom God was pleased to make known what are the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.

  • We are no longer under the judgment of sin – it is finished
  • We are in CHRIST – it is finished
  • Christ lives in us.
  • We have the hope of GLORY to live in forever in heaven with God because Christ lives in us and He lives forever!

Colossians 2 For in him all the fullness of the Deity dwells bodily, 10 and in him you are made full, who is the head of all principality and power. 11 In him you were also circumcised with a circumcision not made with hands, in the putting off of the body of the sins of the flesh, in the circumcision of Christ, 12 having been buried with him in baptism, in which you were also raised with him through faith in the working of God, who raised him from the dead. 13 You were dead through your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh. He made you alive together with him, having forgiven us all our trespasses14 wiping out the handwriting in ordinances which was against us. He has taken it out of the way, nailing it to the cross. “

  • We are complete in Christ – it is finished.
  • Just as God fully dwelt in Christ, in the same way we are now full because Christ is in us!
  • We are in Christ, we are one with God the Father.
  • We are FULL in Christ. We lack nothing spiritually – it is finished.
  • We became COMPLETE in Christ the day we first believed in Christ. Amen! It is finished.
  • Believers are righteous in Christ without works – therefore we cannot become more righteous because His righteousness has already been given to us!
  • Our works cannot add to His righteousness. Our sins cannot subtract from His righteousness.
  • We were dead in sin but now we are ALIVE in Christ – it is finished.
  • We are not sinners but we are now forgiven ALL sin – it is finished.
  • All the laws that stood against us have been nailed to the cross – it is finished
  • We are not under law, but under GRACE – in Christ.
    • We are not under the 603 + 10 commandments of the law.
    • We are under GRACE – forgiven and righteous by faith in Christ alone, not works

So then, how do we live the Christian life?

Colossians 2 As therefore you received Christ Jesus, the Lord, walk in himrooted and built up in him, and established in the faith, even as you were taught, abounding in it in thanksgiving.”

  • How did we receive Christ?
    • By GRACE through faith in Christ and not by works.
  • We live everyday exactly the same way
    • By GRACE through faith in Christ and not by works.
  • Knowing that we are forgiven all sins, we are saints in the light, forgiven all sins, righteous by faith and not by works.
  • Not by trying to do things to become more righteous but knowing that we are already COMPLETE in CHRIST.
  • We walk from the position as God’s beloved children, having full assurance that we are forgiven and complete in Christ.
  • We feed on CHRIST’s LOVE and then love one another in freedom without compulsion (Colossians 3:12-13)

IT IS FINISHED – the believer is complete in Christ.
