No human being deserves to live forever in heaven merely for doing good deeds for a short lifetime on earth.
Man lives on the earth on average for 70-80 years. He does good and bad in his life. Some people do more good than bad. But nobody is perfect. Nobody is selfless like God.
Even the good deeds that we do can be stained with selfishness – we do good so that we get honor, to avoid problems, to promote our interests, to make life easier, to get something in return, etc.
This is why no human being deserves to enter heaven and become like God.
No imperfect human being deserves to be rewarded with immortality in heaven forever. No man deserves to go to heaven.
If any man goes to heaven based on works, it is injustice!
Romans 3:10 “As it is written, “There is no one righteous: no, not one.”
The only One who is righteous is God.
Comparing our works to God is like comparing an “ant” with a Million mountains!.
It is like comparing “dust” versus “Billions of Suns”
But nobody has seen God, so how do we know what is righteousness?
Jesus the Son of God revealed the Almighty God to us.
Jesus never sinned, but He loved everyone perfectly. He is the Righteousness of God.
He loved even those who crucified Him.
In fact He died for our sins. He carried all the sin of the entire world upon Himself.
That is the righteousness of God.
Nobody is selfless like Jesus – He alone is worthy of all praise and honor.
Look at the love of God on the cross displayed by Jesus Christ our LORD in Luke 23:
“32 There were also others, two criminals, led with him to be put to death. 33 When they came to the place that is called “The Skull”, they crucified him there with the criminals, one on the right and the other on the left.
34 Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they don’t know what they are doing.”
Dividing his garments among them, they cast lots. 35 The people stood watching. The rulers with them also scoffed at him, saying, “He saved others. Let him save himself, if this is the Christ of God, his chosen one!”
36 The soldiers also mocked him, coming to him and offering him vinegar, 37 and saying, “If you are the King of the Jews, save yourself!”
38 An inscription was also written over him in letters of Greek, Latin, and Hebrew: “THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS.”
39 One of the criminals who was hanged insulted him, saying, “If you are the Christ, save yourself and us!”
40 But the other answered, and rebuking him said, “Don’t you even fear God, seeing you are under the same condemnation? 41 And we indeed justly, for we receive the due reward for our deeds, but this man has done nothing wrong.” 42 He said to Jesus, “Lord, remember me when you come into your Kingdom.”
43 Jesus said to him, “Assuredly I tell you, today you will be with me in Paradise.”
- Jesus never sinned and is perfectly righteous but yet He was crucified for our sins among criminals.
- Jesus was at the most horrible moment of His life, carrying all the sins of the entire human race on His body, when He said this “FORGIVE !!”.
- He cried out to FORGIVE OUR SINS when He was facing the greatest hatred of mankind.
- They mocked Jesus asking Him why He saved others in His ministry for 3.5 years but not Himself on the cross.
- But that is EXACTLY why Jesus died on the cross! To SAVE US from condemnation and death.
- This is the LOVE and GRACE of GOD.
- The thief on the cross DID NOTHING to DESERVE going to heaven. But he trusted in JESUS Christ alone. He did no good works but relied on the GRACE of GOD and he was given immortality in heaven !!!
God cannot allow people into heaven based on their works – because it is the greatest injustice to let sinners live forever like God !! We don’t deserve it by our works because none of us is righteous!
Only Jesus Christ and God are righteous – because they are ONE.
But God SO LOVED us that He wants us to live in heaven forever with Him.
Jesus Christ lived the sinless and perfect life on earth and yet He died for our sins and rose from the dead, so that we who are sinners can be saved!
There are no good works for us to be saved.
There is nothing we as sinners can do to be saved.
That is why Jesus Christ died on the cross for us and rose from the dead!
Acts 16 “29 He called for lights, sprang in, fell down trembling before Paul and Silas, 30 brought them out, and said, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?”
31 They said, “Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household.”
