Nothing but the grace of Jesus

We were dead in sin.
No good works could ever justify us before God

Romans 3 “

Now As it is written, “There is no one righteous: no, not one… Now we know that whatever things the law says, it speaks to those who are under the law, that every mouth may be closed, and all the world may be brought under the judgment of God. 20 Because by the works of the law, no flesh will be justified in his sight; for through the law comes the knowledge of sin.”

A good unbeliever is still dead in sin.
We were dead because of sin and all have sinned and fall short of Gods glory.
Romans 3 “23 for all have sinned, and fall short of the glory of God”
The wages of sin is death.
We were under prison of death trapped with nothing we could do to be saved.
Ephesians 2
“You were made alive when you were dead in transgressions and sins, in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the children of disobedience. We also all once lived among them in the lusts of our flesh, doing the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, even as the rest.”
Therefore Jesus Christ the Son of God, who is God,
had to come as a man and life the perfect life
He never sinned but tasted our death and released us from the prison of death
He died with us so that He can save us.
He had to die because we were dead.
He rose from the dead and made us alive with Himself, thereby setting us free to forgive all sin.
He justified us by his righteousness and resurrection
It’s by grace we are saved. We are saved by God’s great love.
Only His love could save us – and not our works.
Ephesians 2
But God, being rich in mercy, for his great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead through our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved— and raised us up with him, and made us to sit with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, that in the ages to come he might show the exceeding riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus; for by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, that no one would boast. 10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared before that we would walk in them.”
His love made us alive, giving us His Holy Spirit.
Our works could not save us, but only the Holy Spirit who God gave out of His love!
Romans 5 “and hope doesn’t disappoint us, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us.”
Ephesians 1 “13 In him you also, having heard the word of the truth, the Good News of your salvation—in whom, having also believed, you were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit,”
We are not saved by any works of ours but only by the GRACE of God in Christ.
Romans 4

Now to him who works, the reward is not counted as grace, but as something owed. But to him who doesn’t work, but believes in him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is accounted for righteousness. Even as David also pronounces blessing on the man to whom God counts righteousness apart from works, Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, whose sins are covered. Blessed is the man whom the LORD will by no means charge with sin…..who believe in Him who raised Jesus, our LORD, from the dead, who was delivered up for our trespasses, and was raised for our justification.”

Without Christ, we were dead and incomplete.

But now in Christ, we are made alive, forgiven all sins and made FULL.

Colossians 2
For in him all the fullness of the Deity dwells bodily, 10 and in him you are made full, who is the head of all principality and power. 11 In him you were also circumcised with a circumcision not made with hands, in the putting off of the body of the sins of the flesh, in the circumcision of Christ, 12 having been buried with him in baptism, in which you were also raised with him through faith in the working of God, who raised him from the dead. 13 You were dead through your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh. He made you alive together with him, having forgiven us all our trespasses, 14 wiping out the handwriting in ordinances which was against us. He has taken it out of the way, nailing it to the cross.”
