1 Corinthians 15
Now I declare to you, brothers, the Good News which I preached to you, which also you received, in which you also stand, 2 by which also you are saved, if you hold firmly the word which I preached to you—unless you believed in vain. 3 For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 4 that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures,
that through this man (JESUS) is proclaimed to you remission of sins, 39 and by him everyone who believes is justified from all things, from which you could not be justified by the law of Moses.
Ephesians 1:7 “in whom we have our redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace,”
Colossians 1:14 “in whom we have our redemption, the forgiveness of our sins.”
We are saved by grace through faith and not by our works
3 For we were also once foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving various lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another. 4 But when the kindness of God our Savior and his love toward mankind appeared, 5 not by works of righteousness which we did ourselves, but according to his mercy, he saved us through the washing of regeneration and renewing by the Holy Spirit, 6 whom he poured out on us richly, through Jesus Christ our Savior; 7 that being justified by his grace, we might be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.
2nd Timothy 1
9 who saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given to us in Christ Jesus before times eternal, 10 but has now been revealed by the appearing of our Savior, Christ Jesus, who abolished death, and brought life and immortality to light through the Good News.
Ephesians 4:32 “And be kind to one another, tender hearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you.”
Colossians 3:13 “bearing with one another, and forgiving each other, if any man has a complaint against any; even as Christ forgave you, so you also do.”
The believer is not dead in sin because Jesus died and rose from the dead.
1 Corinthians 15 “17 If Christ has not been raised, your faith is vain; you are still in your sins.”
Therefore we are alive in Christ, forgiven all sins.
Colossians 2 “13 You were dead through your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh. He made you alive together with him, having forgiven us all our trespasses“
1 John 2: “My little children, I write these things to you so that you may not sin. If anyone sins, we have a Counselor with the Father, Jesus Christ, the righteous.”….I write to you, little children, because your sins are forgiven you for his name’s sake“
Therefore as believers who are saved by grace apart from our works, let us not live in sin but live righteously, amen.
