- It has nothing written about the great tribulation, antichrists, earthquakes, wars, diseases, great persecution that are found only in the 3 other gospels.
- It has nothing written about the destruction of Jerusalem. In fact, John’s is the only gospel that says God is no longer worshipped in Jerusalem in John 4.
- It has nothing written about the parables of Christ (all targetted to Israel).
- It has nothing written about the Lord’s Prayer that commanded to keep the law by forgiving others to be forgiven by God.
- It has nothing written about carrying the cross and martyrdom.
- It is written to a Gentile audience with nothing written about the Law of Moses (Ten Commandments) or the Sermon on the Mount (fulfillment of Israel’s law).
The 3 gospels (Matt/Mark/Luke) commanded the disciples to obey the Law / Ten Commandments to be saved. (Matthew 5:1-48, 19:16-21, Mark 10:17-21, Luke 18:18-22).
They were commanded to sell everything, forsake all earthly attachments (families, jobs, lands, etc) and be perfect as God to be saved (Luke 12:31-40, Luke 14:25-34, Matt 5:1-48)
But ALL of this was NOT commanded in the Gospel of John. It ONLY talks about GRACE being given by Jesus Christ. He talks about the Law having already ENDED!!
John 1 “17 For the law was given through Moses; GRACE and truth came through Jesus Christ.“
John only talks about simple faith to be saved and NEVER talks about the LAW for believers. Simple salvation by faith in Christ without any laws.
John 3 “16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.“
John 5 “24 “Very truly I tell you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be judged but has crossed over from death to life. 25 Very truly I tell you, a time is coming and has now come when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God and those who hear will live.”
John 6 “39 And this is the will of him who sent me, that I shall lose none of all those he has given me, but raise them up at the last day. 40 For my Father’s will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day..….47 Very truly I tell you, the one who believes has eternal life. 48 I am the bread of life. 49 Your ancestors ate the manna in the wilderness, yet they died. 50 But here is the bread that comes down from heaven, which anyone may eat and not die. 51 I am the living bread that came down from heaven. Whoever eats this bread will live forever. This bread is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.”……53 Jesus said to them, “Very truly I tell you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you. 54 Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day.”
John NEVER said that we have to keep the Ten commandments because GENTILES are NOT under the LAW. But he specifies the new command under the new covenant – Accept the Love of Christ and love others! We love because we are loved. We don’t love to be saved, but we love because we are saved!
Why are all these differences so important? It’s because all the other 3 gospels had extensive references to the Law that were specific to Israel’s last days until 70AD and this proves that those 3 gospels were written before 70AD.
In Matthew/Mark/Luke’s synoptic Gospels, the Great Commission WAS for preaching the gospel to ISRAELITES in ALL nations during the tribulation before the end of the age in 70AD.
Matthew 28 “19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very END of the AGE.””
This WAS about making disciples to obey everything found in the Law of Christ in the Sermon on the Mount, etc. (being perfect to be saved, forgiving others to be saved, selling everything to be saved, forsaking everything to be saved, fleeing old testament religion, keeping the law perfectly, etc).
But those commandments were NOT for the Gentiles:
Matthew 10 “5 These twelve Jesus sent out with the following instructions: “Do not go among the Gentiles or enter any town of the Samaritans.6 Go rather to the lost sheep of Israel.“
That was the 12 Apostle’s commission of the Gospel to the Israelites in all nations unto the END of the AGE of Israel’s law. This great commission ENDED in 70AD.
They were supposed to obey everything Jesus commanded (selling everything, being perfect keeping the law, forsaking everything and following Jesus, etc). This was only for Israelites under the Law and NOT for Gentiles.
This Gospel commission was ONLY for the 12 tribes of ISRAEL scattered in all nations. The 12 Apostles and the church were persecuted in all nations in the 1st century in the great tribulation.
Matthew 24 ” 9 “Then you will be handed over to be persecuted and put to death, and you will be hated by all nations because of me. 10 At that time many will turn away from the faith and will betray and hate each other, 11 and many false prophets will appear and deceive many people. 12 Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold, 13 but the one who stands firm to the end will be saved. 14 And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the END will come.…. 21 For then there will be great tribulation, unequaled from the beginning of the world until now—and never to be equaled again
The 12 Apostles judged the 12 tribes of Israel at the end of the AGE in 70AD when Israel was judged.
Matthew 19 “28 Jesus said to them, “Truly I tell you, at the renewal of all things, when the Son of Man sits on his glorious throne, you who have followed me will also sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.”
In Revelation 7, we see the salvation of the 12 tribes of Israel with the 144,000 Israelites from all the nations. Then in Revelation 14, we see the 144,000 with Jesus on Mt.Zion, they had followed Christ and were blameless having perfectly obeyed the Law. In Revelation 19 we see Christ coming to judge Israel (Jerusalem is the Babylon harlot) in the year 70AD. The Romans destroyed Israel and their old covenant system in the 1st century. That was the end of the great tribulation and judgment on Israel.
The LAW of MOSES (TEN COMMANDMENTS) ended in 70AD as written here:
Hebrews 8 “13 By calling this covenant “new,” he has made the first one obsolete; and what is obsolete and outdated will soondisappear.”
The Law of Israel (10 + 603) commandments remained until Israel’s heaven and earth passed away. That is why Jesus commanded Israelites to perfectly keep the law to be saved (but NOT for Gentiles).
Matthew 5 “17 “Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. 18 For truly I tell you, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished”
Israel’s heaven and earth passed away when their Temple and covenant was fully destroyed in AD70.
Isaiah 65-66“See, I will create new heavens and a new earth.
The former things will not be remembered,
nor will they come to mind………..“6 Hear that uproar from the city,
hear that noise from the temple! It is the sound of the Lord
repaying his enemies all they deserve.”
This was referring to the END of Israel and her law in 70AD.
The great commission FOR Israel ended in 70AD during the great tribulation.
After the great tribulation ended with the Judgment of the 12 tribes of Israel then we see the Gospel of John was written to Gentiles after 70AD.
We are living today in the Millenium of Revelation 20 when John wrote to the nations
Revelation 10 “10 I took the little scroll from the angel’s hand and ate it. It tasted as sweet as honey in my mouth, but when I had eaten it, my stomach turned sour. 11 Then I was told, “You must prophesy again about many peoples, nations, languages and kings.”
This was the commission of JOHN to the entire world. He was the LAST Apostle who died some years after He witnessed the coming of the LORD in judgment over Israel. He witnessed the 70AD coming of the Lord in the visions while writing Revelation in the isle of Patmos in exile during the time of Nero’s rule pre-70AD.
The commission for John was to write the Gospel of John to the Gentile world living in the Millenium (After 70AD until the end of the world). The world will end in the future when all Gentile nations will be judged at the end of literal heaven and earth. A new world will be revealed at that final resurrection when only believers from Gentile nations will enter the new Jerusalem to join the 144,000 who were already ruling with Christ in the Millenium.
John wrote the Gospel of John AFTER 70AD. This gospel does not have any specific apostolic commission because all the apostles died except John.
What did John write to the Gentile world? Simply believe in JESUS.
The Gospel of John was written to a Gentile audience AFTER 70AD and AFTER the great tribulation and AFTER the antichrist was judged. It is the most well-known Gospel book and contains the most famous scripture of all time (John 3:16). It is the only Gospel that focuses so much on the simple faith in Christ. John said that he wrote the gospel so that the world would believe in Christ (John 20:31). It is the simplest Gospel meant for a Gentile audience who does not need to know about the great tribulation, law of Moses, parables, Jerusalem, Temple, etc.
It clearly shows how Jesus is God and how He was witnessed by Israel and rejected by Israel who held on to their Temple, Law, sacrifices, manna, old testament religion, ten commandments, sabbaths, etc. But they did not accept Christ in the New Covenant who was received by Gentiles who had never seen Him but believed in Him!
He wrote it AFTER Israel’s rejection of Christ so that the Gentiles would accept Him.
John 1 ” 9 The true light that gives light to everyone was coming into the world. 10 He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him. 11 He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him.12 Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God— 13 children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God.”
The Gospel of John was written so that we Gentiles can BELIEVE in Christ. There are no apostles today because we have the completed scriptures – especially the Gospel of John – to know Jesus and believe in Him.
John 20 ” 30 Jesus performed many other signs in the presence of his disciples, which are not recorded in this book.31 But these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.“
John wrote that the true Temple is Jesus Himself, indicating that the Temple in Jerusalem was destroyed:
John 2 WEB ” 19 Jesus answered them, “Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.” 20 The Jews therefore said, “It took forty-six years to build this temple! Will you raise it up in three days?” 21 But he spoke of the temple of his body. 22 When therefore he was raised from the dead, his disciples remembered that he said this, and they believed the Scripture, and the word which Jesus had said.”
