Who is Jesus to us? To some, He was a great teacher. To others He was a good prophet and a good man. To some others He was an angel of God. For some people, Jesus is the savior of the Jews.
But I want to tell you that Jesus is God. He was not created because He is the great “I AM”.
John 8 “58 “Very truly I tell you,” Jesus answered, “before Abraham was born, I am!”
He was before Abraham because He lives forever. Only God is immortal – the great I AM !
Exodus 3 “God said to Moses, “I am who I am. This is what you are to say to the Israelites: ‘I am has sent me to you.’”
Jesus is the immortal king – the Only God – who forgave the worst of sinners!
1st Timothy 1 “But for that very reason I was shown mercy so that in me, the worst of sinners, Christ Jesus might display his immense patience as an example for those who would believe in him and receive eternal life. 17 Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory for ever and ever. Amen.”
He is immortal because He is God.
Revelation 1 ” 17 When I saw him, I fell at his feet as though dead. Then he placed his right hand on me and said: “Do not be afraid. I am the First and the Last. 18 I am the Living One; I was dead, and now look, I am alive for ever and ever!“
Jesus is the First and the Last, the Alpha and the Omega. This means that He is everything.
Revelation 21 ” 5 He who was seated on the throne said, “I am making everything new!” Then he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.”6 He said to me: “It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. To the thirsty I will give water without cost from the spring of the water of life.“
He is seated on the throne giving living water freely. He removed the law and finished the judgment and is making all things New!
Jesus is God because Jesus is our righteousness.
1st Corinthians 1 “no one may boast before him. 30 It is because of him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God—that is, our righteousness, holiness and redemption. 31 Therefore, as it is written: “Let the one who boasts boast in the Lord”
Only God is righteous, not angels or men. That’s why only Jesus is righteous and we received His righteousness freely so that no man can boast in themselves but only boast in Jesus Christ.
Jesus alone did the work because only God could do the work.
Revelation 5 “I wept and wept because no one was found who was worthy to open the scroll or look inside. 5 Then one of the elders said to me, “Do not weep! See, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has triumphed. He is able to open the scroll and its seven seals.””
John 1 “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was with God in the beginning. 3 Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made.”
Christ is creator AND redeemer of ALL things!
In the beginning it said that God created all things.
Genesis 1 “ In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.”
But now it says that Jesus created all things! This shows that Jesus is God.
Colossians 1 “15 The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. 16 For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him. 17 He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. 18 And he is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything he might have the supremacy. 19 For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him, 20 and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross”
Colossians 2 ” 9 For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form, 10 and in Christ you have been brought to fullness. He is the head over every power and authority. 11 In him you were also circumcised with a circumcision not performed by human hands. Your whole self ruled by the flesh was put off when you were circumcised by Christ, 12 having been buried with him in baptism, in which you were also raised with him through your faith in the working of God, who raised him from the dead. 13 When you were dead in your sins and in the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made you alive with Christ. He forgave us all our sins.“
This is why Thomas said this when he saw the resurrected Christ.
John 20 ” 27 Then he said to Thomas, “Put your finger here; see my hands. Reach out your hand and put it into my side. Stop doubting and believe.” 28 Thomas said to him, “My Lord and my God!”“
Jesus is not an angel but He is superior to the angels.
Hebrews 1 ” In the past God spoke to our ancestors through the prophets at many times and in various ways, 2 but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom also he made the universe. 3 The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven. 4 So he became as much superior to the angels as the name he has inherited is superior to theirs. 5 For to which of the angels did God ever say, “You are my Son; today I have become your Father”? Or again,“I will be his Father, and he will be my Son”?6 And again, when God brings his firstborn into the world, he says, “Let all God’s angels worship him.” 7 In speaking of the angels he says, “He makes his angels spirits, and his servants flames of fire.”8 But about the Son he says,“Your throne, O God, will last for ever and ever; a scepter of justice will be the scepter of your kingdom”
He was worshipped along with the Father. The book of Revelation shows that Jesus and Father are seated on the throne receiving worship. It’s because the Son is exactly like the Father. They are ONE in essence and nature.
Revelation 5 “6 Then I saw a Lamb, looking as if it had been slain, standing at the center of the throne, encircled by the four living creatures and the elders…..“Worthy is the Lamb, who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and praise!” 13 Then I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and on the sea, and all that is in them, saying: “To him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be praise and honor and glory and power, for ever and ever!” 14 The four living creatures said, “Amen,” and the elders fell down and worshiped.“
Revelation 22 “No longer will there be any curse. The throne of God and of the Lamb will be in the city, and his servants will serve him. 4 They will see his face, and his name will be on their foreheads.”
Nobody had seen God until they finally saw Jesus.
Jesus alone revealed the Father because Jesus and God are ONE.
John 1:18 “No one has ever seen God, but the one and only Son, who is himself God and is in closest relationship with the Father, has made him known.”
John 6 “46 No one has seen the Father except the one who is from God; only he has seen the Father. 47 Very truly I tell you, the one who believes has eternal life.48 I am the bread of life.”
John 14 “Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. 7 If you really know me, you will know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him.”…..Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father….Believe me when I say that I am in the Father and the Father is in me“
John 10:30 “I and the Father are one.”
The reason Jesus was crucified was because He claimed to be God.
John 5 ” For this reason they tried all the more to kill him; not only was he breaking the Sabbath, but he was even calling God his own Father, making himself equal with God. 19 Jesus gave them this answer: “Very truly I tell you, the Son can do nothing by himself; he can do only what he sees his Father doing, because whatever the Father does the Son also does. 20 For the Father loves the Son and shows him all he does”
Jesus is God. That is why He did all the good that He could.
He loved everyone. He healed the sick and did good to everyone.
He did not hurt a fly. He multiplied food and He forgave everyone.
He was betrayed, rejected and deserted. He was brutally crucified
on the cross and YET HE FORGAVE THEM ALL.
This is God’s love. God is love and this is God. It’s because Jesus is GOD !
He loved like no other man because Jesus is God.
Only God could love like that!
The glory of God was revealed only in Christ.
2nd Corinthians 4 ” 5 For what we preach is not ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, and ourselves as your servants for Jesus’ sake. 6 For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of God’s glory displayed in the face of Christ.“
His glory was revealed on the cross.
2 Corinthians 5 “17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here! 18 All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: 19 that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people’s sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation. 20 We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God. 21 God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.”
God the Father’s glory was that He never wanted to judge mankind but love us so much that He became sin on the cross through Jesus Christ. Daddy God became a man through Jesus and died on the cross so that we became as righteous as God Himself!
This is why Jesus Christ is everything! He’s not a chapter of history.
He’s not just a mere prophet or teacher of the past.
He is the Alpha and Omega. He is God almighty!
Jesus is not Israel-Only because God did not create Israel alone.
He created all of humanity and died for all of us
so that ALL of us who BELIEVE have been gifted Christ’s righteousness.
All who believe are forgiven all sins and receive eternal life.
Jesus created all of us and He saved all believers!
It’s because Jesus is LORD and God.
Daddy God loves you! Jesus loves you!
