Enjoying the journey with God

Life is a journey that must be cherished instead of worrying about the destination. But unfortunately for some of us it becomes all about the destination! In a spiritual sense, some of us are worried about going to heaven/hell. In other cases we are worried about earthly matters – whether our finances, career, health, family, kids, etc will eventually turn out alright.

But I believe that we need to enjoy the journey with God and learn about His love instead of focusing on the destination.
It’s because God is our Daddy who loves to take care of us.

In the beginning, God gave Adam his son everything he needed in life. God never told Adam to worry about anything. He just gave him everything freely and unconditionally because he was His beloved son.

Luke 3:38 “Adam, the son of God”

God never told Adam to think about tomorrow or worry about anything. He never even told him to know what was right and wrong! God never wanted Adam to worry about his morality, sin or good works!
God never wanted Adam to worry about money, food, health or anything at all.
It’s because God was freely taking care of Adam without any conditions or efforts from Adam.

But after Adam filled his mind with the knowledge of good & evil then his life was filled with struggle, worry and pain. It’s because Adam tried to become like God – he tried to provide everything for himself by being like God. He wanted to know everything and it resulted in problems! Curiosity killed the cat! In this case it was the knowledge that caused problems. The lesson here is that it’s better not to know too much but just let God take care of everything! It was better not to think too much about the future but just live in the moment.

Man’s sin was to try to be like God. The truth is that man was never created to be like God. Adam was imperfect and naked but God is powerful and almighty who provides for him. Man was not supposed to try to figure out everything but just let God be God. Man tried to be like God and failed. So today let’s not do the same thing. Let’s not be like God by forcing the issue in our strength but just rely on His grace and love.

Take no thought / Do not worry

Matthew 6 ” do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? 26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27 Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life? 28 “And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. 29 Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. 30 If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith? 31 So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”Jesus told his disciples to not “take any thought” or “not worry” about earthly things. He gave them the examples of animals who don’t stress out but just live their lives. Animals don’t even pray or have faith and yet God takes care of them! So how much more will God our Daddy take care of us.

When I see little kids, I see God’s kingdom among them – they have no worries but they’re just playing. Kids just want to have fun but we put so many rules and regulations on them. Kids are forced to worry about their futures in this world but they just want to play and “be kids”.

Luke 12 ” And do not set your heart on what you will eat or drink; do not worry about it. 30 For the pagan world runs after all such things, and your Father knows that you need them. 31 But seek his kingdom, and these things will be given to you as well. 32 “Do not be afraid, little flock, for your Father has been pleased to give you the kingdom. 33 Sell your possessions and give to the poor.Provide purses for yourselves that will not wear out, a treasure in heaven that will never fail, where no thief comes near and no moth destroys. 34 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. 35 “Be dressed ready for service and keep your lamps burning, 36 like servants waiting for their master to return from a wedding banquet, so that when he comes and knocks they can immediately open the door for him”

Jesus told the disciples to not worry about daily needs of money, food, etc. but to seek God’s kingdom and righteousness by selling everything. It’s because they were under the curse of Adam/law. They could only attain the kingdom if their righteousness exceeded that of pharisees (Matthew 5:1-48). They had to be like Jesus – just like He gave up everything for them, in the same way they had to follow him and love God and hate money to fulfill the law. This was because they were living under the law just prior to the 2nd coming of Christ in 70AD.

But for us today after 70AD – we don’t need to do anything. The kingdom is already here and His righteousness is already given to us by Christ’s finished work. He did everything for us so that we can be free of worries. He takes care of our needs. He died for us and gave up everything.

We are back in the garden where God does everything for us.
He does not want us to struggle under the curse like Adam but He wants us to know His unconditional love.
The problem is “knowledge” or “worry” where we want to be like God but the true knowledge of God’s unconditonal love and grace brings rest in every are of our lives.

We are called to only know God’s love. Only one thing is needed (Luke 10:42). Martha was worried about many things but Jesus told Mary to know just one thing – God Himself! God is LOVE – and His love never fails. His love is unconditional. The world tells us to worry about everything but Daddy God tells us to just focus on His love and let Him take care of all our worries.

Psalm 55 “Cast your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous be shaken.”

There are times in my life when I get so worried about the present and the future. But when I look at my past I see that all that I have is by the Grace of God alone. I did not attain anything by my efforts or goodness but it was Daddy God who took care of my life.

Isaiah 46 “you whom I have upheld since your birth, and have carried since you were born. Even to your old age and gray hairs I am he, I am he who will sustain you. I have made you and I will carry you;  I will sustain you and I will rescue you.”

Who else do we have in this world but Him?

Psalm 73 “You guide me with your counsel, and afterward you will take me into glory. 25 Whom have I in heaven but you? And earth has nothing I desire besides you. 26 My flesh and my heart may fail,  but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.”

We only have Jesus and nobody else. Daddy God is our only hope of love.
Our worries about morality, career, money, health, family, kids – are all our efforts in being like God.
Let’s just give up, rest – because we cannot do anything anyway. Only God can do it – so let Him do it!

Matthew 11:29 ” 28 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

Just leave it ! Let it go ! Let go and let God !
Rest in the finished work of Jesus Christ – He has done it! He will do it in our lives!

God does not ask us to worry about sin, morality, health, money, family, food or anything.
Jesus took care of everything.

Don’t think too much but just enjoy the journey with Daddy God.

The destination of the blessing will be glorious. Therefore let’s enjoy the journey.
Daddy God will do what He says in our lives. He’s faithful and has always blessed us in Christ.
Jesus Christ is the Son of God who died on the cross for our sins and was raised from the dead after 3 days. Everyone who believes in Jesus receives the forgiveness of sins, eternal life and the righteousness of God as a free gift.
